The service of this place is horrific. 1. During the tour, the tour guy Bob ignored us the whole time 2. At the end of the tour, me and my buddy went to the restroom. We were proceeding to leave when Bob came up to us and started inappropriately making comments to us i.e. "how can you disrespect me and the winery by snooping around after we give you free wine..etc?" 3. First of all, it was not free-we paid for this tasting tour, secondly we were not snooping around..so we're not allowed to use the restroom? 4. We can't help thinking this has to do with racism because we are young latino men

Cons: rude tour guide

The CakeBread winery is one of Napa's best kept secrets. This winery unlike it's commercialized cousins, is mostly a favorite to Bay Area residents who spend their weekends in the Valley. Unless your friends with the CakeBread family, be sure to make an appointment; walk-in's are only allowed a tasting. If you're looking for their reserves; it's available only at the vineyard, good luck finding it anywhere else. If you're local; this is your chance to stock up. I highly recommend this winery.

I had a little trouble finding Cakebread as it didn't seem to be well-marked as I zipped by. But, worth the trouble because once I had a taste, I was hooked. Delicious wine and the person pouring was conversational and pleasant. I ended up buying a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon which I was told would be best if it sat for a year. I'm breaking it out this summer and can hardly wait. My mouth is watering and I know I will be reliving a happy memory when I finally uncork it. This is a small outfit and there isn't much else to see or do besides taste the wine. That's fine with me - I would taste it over and over.

Pros: wonderful wine
