daisy48 is frigid!
by stewartj
Regarding Daisey48's review. Obviously she is in dire need of a really good release of sexual desire as her review is incredibly frigid. Casa Orinda fits the exact bill it wants to. A very traditional place that your dad would like to go to, and a fine meal at a price that is "you get what you pay for". I like Casa Orinda for its class and excellent food, bar and traditional decore. and I am not so bigoted to call the hostess "old white lady". Grow up daisy!
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: Very busy so you may have to wait, but that is because it is so good
Great restaurant, if you hate service and money but LOVE fried chicken
by daizy48
Obviously the fried chicken is great, but you will have to compromise on service and cost. Prices are pretty high considering this is NOT five star. Service leaves something to be desired. Usually a snooty old white lady greets you at the reception desk, and she is appalled if you do not have a reservation. Usually long waits and a general were-better-than-you-ness attitude by most older staff (some of the staff are friendly).
Great Fried Chicken, Generous Portions, Stiff Drinks
by 15bigones
Old-fashioned restaurant food. Their fried chicken is justifiably renowned, even if the bird is a bit on the small side. The mashed potatoes are smooth and creamy, the vegetables nicely done. The biscuit is superb. Other meat dishes feature generous portions. Lots of pasta on the menu, as well. The cocktails contain lots of alcohol, and the food and drink prices are quite moderate. Very American comfort food served in an Old West-themed restaurant.
- Pros: Superb fried chicken, stiff cocktails, homey atmosphere, and heavy comfort food
- Cons: None, unless you prefer different cuisine, or a hipper atmosphere
Good food, "unusual" ambience

Being in Casa Orinda suddenly makes you want to order a Rob Roy or a Manhattan. It's definitely a throwback to a time when a Martini and a thick steak was a swell night out.
The Fried Chicken is renowned, but I'm a fan of their Veal Picatta, which is always tender and delicious. Their desserts are quite good, my favorite being the Mud Pie.
The cowboy theme (!!) is used throughout the place, even in the restrooms. The tasty food will soon make you forget that you're sitting under a wall of pistols, or branding irons.
- Pros: great entrees, talented bartenders
- Cons: difficult parking
