It always frustrates me to see all the Mission Hipsters lavishing all of their gushy accolades onto Taqueria Cancun when the REAL DEAL is right down the freaking street at El Farolito. Look here people... if you want to be satisfied by huge burritos - the boiled chicken is a personal fave - , tortas or platas of fresh mexican food at an unbelievable price then head to El Farolito. You'll thank me.

Pros: Great price, great food, wonderful staff.

Cons: NONE, really.

You want dirty but excellent? Nothing describes Farolito better then that. The staff is nice, the Quesadillas are sick.

Pros: Excellent (The Best) Mexican food in town

Cons: Dirty as hell

Tarqeria El Farolito, with two locations in the Mission, is the best deal on food, all cuisines considered. Every time you go in, you know what to expect. The Super Nachos ($4.95) are about five pounds of deliciousness, with cheese, onions, guacamole, jalapenos, salsa, beans and meat completely covering a huge mound of chips! They always have three salsas available for self-scooping. The quesadilla suiza is big enough for 2-4 people. And the burritos are perfectly huge. I usually chop mine in 1/2 and save the rest for lunch the next day.

Pros: cheap, fresh, delicious

Cons: none

Whenever I'm in the mission I always stop at Farolito for a burrito. Excellent carne asada and grilled chicken. Big enough for lunch the next day!

Rough area, rough clientele, very good tacos. Went after walking around the auto show for hours, we were really hungry and this was a cheap although precarious choice.

I live near the Russia & Mission El Farolito, and I have to say that they have the absolute best quesadillas I have ever had, there are about 3 million taquerias in the mission but I only go to Farolitos. The staff are a bunch of really nice guys, and the carne asada is tender, lean and flavorful. All of the items I have tried have been delicious. The taste and composition of most items differs slightly from day to day, but even a mediocre quesadilla (in Farolito standards) blows everyone else's out of the water. Simply Awesome.

Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious, Open Late Nite

Cons: Loud, Rough Neighborhood, Parking Difficult

Huge burritos, nachos, tacos for dirt cheap! the carne asada is tasty and tender, worth every penny ($4.90 a burrito!)

Pros: cheap, delicious, carne asada

Editor's Review

Colossal burritos and cheap prices make this one of San Francisco's most popular taquerias.  See the full editorial review.
