Just ok. Cute little restaurant but the services is just ok. We didn't have reservations which seemed to be an inconvenience to the wait staff. The sangria is just so so. The selection is decent but the taste lacks a bit. We wanted to order the cheese platter to start with but were told it would be a 20 minute wait for the cheese to come to room temperature, maybe they should have thought of that before they opened. The food was just ok and it's a bit pricey. Over $90 and I still left hungry.…
Icy Service, Oily Food. After hearing about this place from other locals, a girlfriend and I decided to check this "neighborhood" hang out out. But the reception we received was less than warm. Wasn't sure if it was part of the desired snooty euro effect that the restaurant was painfully trying to achieve by acting annoyed about us even being there and not bothering to even break a smile. We started with the flash fried spinach, which was not crunchy at all but looked like sad peices of green cellophane and tasted only of vegetable oil. Then the calamari which doesn't even render a comment since it was so forgettable, except that it was again...oily. Then the sweet sausage and olive dish which, not surprisingly enough, was swimming in OIL. What DID seem to need some moisture was the flourless chocolate cake, which we were looking forward to after such a dissappointing meal. It was so dry and tasteless I completed gave up after one bite. Never again.…
All-Around Fabu!. It's rare for me to flat out rave about a place, but Nibbler's definately deserves it! It features eclectic, yet somehow relaxing decor which is mirrored in their monthly menus. My husband and I went for our anniversary last month and it was a great choice! We made easy reservations online and were seated right when we walked in the door. Our server was a very friendly young woman and saw to it that we were well taken care of. The dishes came out in a nice, even flow allowing enough time to savor each plate. The presentation was beautiful, the flavors and textures spectacular, and the service wonderful. I never knew you could fry spinach! We will definately be going back in the not-too-distant future!…
A long night at Nibblers. Sorry to have to contradict the previous reviews but my experience at Nibblers was quite different. After being seated we waited over 15 minutes for a visit from our server and this was only because we flagged him down at another table. After finally getting our menus, we ordered our initial 4 plates. Again a long wait ensued. Finally he arrived but with only 1 of our orders. After finishing this one plate (there were 3 of us) it took another 15 minutes for our remaing dishes to arrive. I expressed my concern that at a small plates/tapas restaurant, the food must come consistently or the meal suffers greatly. We ordered some additional items and the same problem continued. The topper was when the waiter asked if we wanted our check and we had to remind him that we were still waiting for 2 previously ordered items! We even had to get clean plates ourselves from another table since ours was never bussed during our meal. To be clear, the food was fine but as any diner can tell you, shoddy service can destroy a meal, especially in a small plates establishment. And in this case it most certainly did. This was not a case of a very busy restaurant, the place was less than half full and it was a Saturday night. I can not recommend Nibblers nor do I think I will give it another chance. Nibblers was a mistake and an expensive one at that.…
A hidden gem in Pleasant Hill.
After the reviews, I had to try this place. It's a hidden gem. How good? It should be zagat rated. The inside takes you to a bistro in Europe. Our waiter who's been there since it opened up two
years ago quickly welcomed my party and after small talk gave his recommendations on the wine after we told him we preferred reds. We asked for his recommendations on the tapas (small plates) and he proceeded to again give it his best. We decided to play the game "surprise us" with our wine and food choices. OUTSTANDING! Nibbler's should consider a "let us surprise you dinner" because it's really that good. Three small tapas and I was full.
LOCATION: it's tucked away in a small shopping center
SERVICE: with my waiter- he gets 5 stars
WINE - great choices with good pricing - 5 stars
FOOD - again great and priced perfectly - 5 stars
Personally, I can see the owner moving this restaurant to a location that gets more foot traffic. Also, the name may give one the impression that the food and/or portions are real small. Far from it. It's tapas style and perfectly created. A client/broker/agent could make this restaurant a household name in the area if the owner chose to advertise. For now, I'm going to enjoy this secret gem.…
WONDERFUL ON SO MANY LEVELS.
I recently rented Nibbler's for the evening to host my sons Eagle Scout party. This was a proud moment for him and for my family.
Daniel put together the most amazing meal! Many members of our family are meat-and potatoes types and in addition there were seveeral food allergies to be contended with. Everyone was pleased.......not an easy feat with a large group.
THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO FOR A PARTY TO REMEMBER…
The best restaurant in the area!. I love coming here. I'm now going here once a week to get my fix! The chef, Daniel, greets you at the table. Has a variety of food & wines on the menus. Great vegetarian selections as well. Fun, cozy ambiance. The strip mall it's in is kind of weary looking, but once you're inside you forget where you are.…
A Wonderful Dining Experience!. Upon entry the staff greet you and make you feel as if you're in a cozy european bistro. They provide a relaxed dining environment with professional service and friendly conversation. Their menu changes monthly, and every dish we had was amazing! It's all tapas so you can sample many different selections and the prices are reasonable. The wine list is extensive and the servers can recommend wines based on the dishes you choose...we were impressed with all of the recommendations. Lastly the dessert sampler was out of this world. I would highly recommend this restaurant to EVERYONE!!!…
Editorial Review. Intimate bistro features European style small plate dining and a full wine bar.
Best East Bay Tapas, make reservations Fri, Sat nights, Great Wait Staff.
We ate here for the first time on a Friday night and were really glad to have made reservations. The first thing I noticed about this restaurant was the abundant wait staff, then as the evening
progressed I realized that they were necessary for all the small plates coming out of the kitchen so smoothly. We started out with a flat bread with 3 cheeses and herbs - which was very nice, then we had the beef wellington it had a nice wild mushroom sauce and was fork tender, then we tried the gyozo - a chicken stuffed wonton atop crispy fried spinach with a pecan and brown butter sauce which was so good we could have eaten three orders! We also tried the aoli garlic fries which arrived looking very plain but were hot and very spicy and had lots of garlic bite to them. Then we ended on the Dry boat scallops - two huge tendar scallops with a nice couscous. Overall this will become a favorite place, it is a bit pricey - we paid $80.00 plus tip for two and that was without any flights of wine, I did have one glass of wine that was about $7.00, the flights are served in 2 oz sets of three so they are a good buy and the wine list is extensive. The wait staff are very helpful and efficient, the atmosphere is basic but the lighting is calming and the food was really, really good. I definitely will be going back again.
I would not reccommend this place for children under 13 since they really would not appreciate the food. Order pizza in, get a sitter and go out and enjoy a nice night together. One last note: The name just doesn't fit, it would do this nice restaurant justice to find a name more Tapas friendly and upscale. Oh, they advertise belly dancing on Thursday nights.......?…
