I've gone too them repeatedly for cuts, coloring, and Japanese hair straightening, and time and time I walk out fully satisfied with everything they've done. i had visted so many salons in bay area.....bt new image salon and spa is d best....i had been dere so many tyms and everytym i got satisfied.........like i had my haircut frm dis salon .......and it's excellent.......moreover,i had gone through d facial and dat was excellent.....nehal did ma facial.....i think dere is sum kinda magic in her hands.....Last bt not least i wanna say dat dis salon is world's best salon in d whole universe

Worst haircut ever

I will never ever go here again!! I have been to this salon three times, and the first two times, I acutally got really nice hair cuts. I went again recently, and the girl that cut my hair was really sweet and nice, but I don't think she knew how to cut hair. She looked really young so I'm guessing she prob doens't have any experience. She spent about 5 minutes cutting and 40 minutes styling. When i left, it was dark and so i thought it looked okay, but when i washed it today, it looks like someone just hacked at it. it is so bad. the bangs aren't even right. so i called them and asked if they could get someone else to fix it, but the guy (owner, i think??) said that if someone else did it, they would charge me for a full haircut. he offered to have the same girl who originally cut it try and fix it. i don't want to let her anywhere near my hair. why would she do a good job this time. I was willing to pay the other stylist a very nice tip...but they wouldn't agree to it. this place sucks....and its never busy. i guess that should be a sign that they aren't very good.

MARY IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO TO LEWIS & CO. IF YOU WANT A GREAT CUT OR COLOR!!!!! THEY SAVED MY HAIR FROM THIS AWFUL PLACE!!!! This bad review is actually for a particular stylist in the salon named MARY. I have NEVER in my LIFE had such a bad experience at a salon. This happened a few years ago, but as long as she is there, you all need to know how awful she really is.

I decided to come to New Image and see Mary after I had seen all her good reviews. I had spent about $300 dollars at this salon, I had her strip my hair of the black that I had and I wanted a nice chocolate brown color. It looked OK in the lighting at the salon, but when i left I noticed it was a reddish color. Now, is chocolate red? No. I had called back the next day, and she agreed to fix it. Mind you, at the time I worked in San Mateo at the time and had to waste my gas to go BACK to the salon. Let me also say I have super thick hair and my hair must be done piece by piece in order to make it all even. So when I arrive there, she has a BOTTLE of toner. She then just squirts it in my hair and twists it, and puts a clip in it. Since this incident I have become a licensed cosmetologist, and one thing I have learned is when coloring hair you do NOT twist it. ANYWHO, so about 3 days later my friend was straightening my hair for me, and when she parted the back of my hair there was a HUGE SPOT in the middle of my hair. My fiance was even able to notice and he is NOT very observant. So when I called her to tell her of my mishap she accused me of not using the proper products in my hair and that I was responsible for stripping my hair. She also stated it was because I was not using the SALONS specific brand "Purology" I use ALL color safe salon grade products in my hair, so she was just giving me excuses for her poor half ass job. Then she proceeded to tell me I had to pay for the product if I wanted to get it fixed again. Um NO. So When i FINALLY was able to schedule a THIRD appointment, my mother had dropped me off since she was headed that way. We walked in and Mary was slamming stuff around, obviously bothered by our presence. When my mother had made a comment on her demeanor, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. She had the Audacity to insult my mothers HAIR. My mother had highlights that she only paid $40 dollars for, and looked WAYYYYY better than the SIMPLE job Mary was supposed to do on my hair. Now what does that say about HER work? To also add, my mother in no way disrespected Mary, all she did was request that she be a little more friendly to her clients. But NO, Mary was just plain belligerent and disrespectful. Instead of apologizing, she decided she was going to call my mom GHETTO. I mean who really does that? She is actually lucky I didn't get her fired right there on the spot. I honestly wanted to punch her in the face for disrespecting my mother the way she did. But, my mother and I are classy and respectable women so we decided to let it go and not file a complaint. When I finally got my hair DONE completely, my hair was black. The SAME color I had paid $300 to get out. Waste of TIME AND MONEY.

With all this being said, I know everyone has their own opinions about Mary, but for those who have NOT been to her, I suggest checking out LEWIS & CO. Hair Designs instead of New Image. You will come out looking like a rockstar and definitely NOT feeling like you were taken advantage of and disrespected. I have been going here ever since my hair was murdered at new image, They restored my faith in Salons. And they also have 5 levels of stylists that ROCK. (they base their levels on how long a stylist has been with the company, and hold workshops for all the master stylists to work with the lower level stylists.)

Save your time, money, and energy. DO NOT COME HERE!!!

My best hair ever!

If you are looking for a hair salon that’s trendy but not intimidating, with friendly out going stylists & employees who “really know their stuff” then look no more.

The receptionist Stephanie is really sweet & helpful. The last time I went in for my color touch up I had to wait just a few minutes (I never had to wait more than a few minutes to see my stylist) and Stephanie offered me some water & the “recent addition of the magazine” I was reading. I thought that was really nice.

Then my stylist Jessica was ready to see me. She has been doing my hair for some time now and I gave her permission to “do what she wants with my hair” and I am so glad I did! Jessica gave me dark red low lights, covered my gray & gave me a subtle “A line” cut. I am not kidding when I say I have been receiving compliments on my new look from the moment I left the chair! I look and feel amazing! I have a great new look and a great new attitude now as well! How cool is that?

Thank you so much Jessica! I have decided to give you control of my hair every time I go in!

Thank you New Image Salon for the great place in witch Jessica the best stylist EVER can work her magic!!!

The best experience getting a hair cut!

After my last stylist left her job to be a mom to her newborn baby, I went on a search to find a good stylist.

My search brought me to a beautiful salon near downtown Fremont. I can say that my experience there was by far the best I have received in recent years.

Ann (my stylist) greeted me at the door, after which she introduced me to the owner of the salon, who shook my hands and welcomed me to his salon.

Ann spent several minutes examining my hair and listening to the kind of cut I wanted. I even brought pictures which she examined carefully and asked questions.

By the time she started cutting my hair I was comfortable that she knew why I was there and what I wanted done. She didn't waste a lot of time with needless chitter chatter, and instead concentrated on giving me a fantastic cut that I could manage with light blow-drying or air drying to suit my damaged hair.

By the time she finished the cut and styling for my hair, I was extremely pleased with the cut and my experience with her and the salon.

Not only was her technique and work exceptional, so was her customer service. I have received some great customer service over the years from top salons, but none top this one.

Thank you Ann and thank you New Image Salon & Spa.

I have already referred this salon to friends and family and can not wait to return for my next appointment.

Nehal is sent from Heaven

My mother and I went to New Image to have facials this past weekend. This was the best facial I have ever had in my entire life and I have been to about 5 different spas for facials. Not only is Nehal the sweetest person ever, she is so knowledgeable about skin types. We truly did have the royal treatment. Her service went way above and beyond my expectations. My sensitive skin did not get irritated and by the time she was finished with a back rub and all, I was in heaven. I highly recommend everyone to go to Nehal for facials. 2 weeks before that, Nehal did threading on my eyebrows and face. I am extremely picky about my eyebrows. She did an excellent job, they are evenly arched, and they looked so clean. I will only go to her for my eyebrows too!

NOT HAIR COLORING EXPERTS

My hair is ruined, damaged and breaking at the scalp after having Mary color and highlight my hair two days ago. Mary should have known to re do my existing highlights she had put in my hair a month ago, but instead put red hair coloring OVER the existing highlights and my hair is now ORANGE. My hair has very little blonde highlights now, and what highlights she put in my hair are all underneath so you can't even see the highlights. I went to another salon, "Dominique & Co." in Hayward, where the stylists are professional hair coloring experts. OH how I wished I had found them before going to New Image. Anyway, the owner of Dominique told me anyone who knows hair coloring, knows NOT to ever color highlighted hair with RED hair coloring, or it will turn it orange. Mary should have spent at least two and a half to three hours on my hair, but she was in a hurry because she only made a 2 hour time frame for me, and she ran over the time frame, and was wanting to finish up too quickly, probably because she knew my hair looked like S---, and wanted me out of there, before I threw a fit. My husband HATES my hair, won't even look at me, and when he does he laughs by calling me a pumpkin. Thanks Mary for absolutely nothing and I WILL NEVER BE RETURNING TO NEW IMAGE. Please don't phone me either, because that may make me want to take you to court and get my $300 RETURNED. Can you believe I paid this amount to have ORANGE HAIR?????????

Great consultation, color and cut. I love my new style!

The best consultation and haircut/hairstyle I've had in years!

Maybe I've been watching too much "What Not To Wear" but I wanted a hair makeover, so I booked an appointment with Mary. She took the time to listen to my complaints about my hair (needed pump up on the blah brown color and create a style that is modern, feminine and easy to manage.) Mary had some great ideas and shared her vision with me before coloring and cutting my hair.

Result? My shoulder length brown mop was transformed to a chic layered bob in a rich chocolate hue with a few lighter "peek-a-boo" face framing highlights.

What I really appreciated during the cut is every once in a while she would confirm before cutting. (ie: hand across the back of the neck, "so you want it cut up to here?" or "so you want the front layers to fall here?") Anyone who has had a bad haircut before knows this confirmation is priceless and definitely saves you from walking out of the salon grumbling.

I left the salon feeling great! Stacey London and Clinton Kelly would be proud. :)

New Image Salon Fan Club

Calling everyone that wants to be STYLED! I have been to more salons than I can even remember. I have been searching for the one salon that will not only cut and color, but style my hair that works best with my features. Someone who isn't afraid to say " I think this would be better and here's why" ! That IS the reason we go to a salon right? We want to leave feeling beautiful and styled in a way that reveals our best assets.

MARY created a style for me that was both flattering and beautiful. My hair finally had the shine, color and movement I've only dreamed about. Thank you-Thank you!!!!! I've been back for a follow-up and WILL continue to be a loyal customer. You rule!!!!! Christina P.
