What users are saying:
The only Bay Area theater where you can order pizza and beer while watching second-run flicks.

In Short
The theater shows its second-run films in two rooms with couches and tables. The downstairs screen is large, but the upstairs screen is a bit small and far away. Pizza, focaccia sticks and buffalo wings are among the items you won't find anywhere near your local multiplex. The most welcome additions to the menu are the quality draft beer and wines by the glass or bottle.
simply put - awesome

this is my favorite movie theater in oakland. not only is it crawling distance from my house, but admission is 2/$5 on wednesdays. it attracts the 20-something oakland hipster crowd. they play the good movies that have been in the major theaters for a while, and also play classics on special nights. my hunny and i frequent this spot. one thing to avoid is the food, i couldnt cook that poorly if i tried. the pizza is less than stellar, but edible if youve got the munchies. avoid everything else on the menu. parking is easy if you check the surrounding blocks. overall, this is a great home-town joint that doesnt get enough credit. long live the parkway!!
- Pros: price, seating, originality
- Cons: food
Food, couches, movies=FUN!

I go to the Parkway - not because it's stumbling distance from my pad - but because of their film selection. Will's Film Noir Festival is a personal favorite, and the quirky details, food, beer and inexpensive ticket prices are awesome. Also: the audience/community is the best in town and most fun in town; expect catcalls if you go to see a cheesy, goofy film from the 70s.
