Raleighs is a beer-only bar. They have a really wide selection that are all fairly priced and cheap if you go during happy hour. It's definitely a hangout for Cal students, so expect that. The staff are not particularly friendly, but they are efficient.

The food at Raleigh's is pretty good. I'm not old enough to drink, but the food selection is pretty wide and the service there has been friendly when i've gone. The tv's always show espn, like most bars, but the atmosphere of cal fans makes things more fun.

Unlike many of the other bars in Berkeley, Raleighs is a beer only bar. That is not a problem however because they have a huge selection. The best thing about Raleighs is the patio in back where you can enjoy great food with a good beverage under the nice blue sky.

In Short
This place is expansive and light, with a long, curved bar on one side and tables along the other. The ceilings are high, the stools are extra wide (and comfortable), and the two pool tables in back have plenty of room around them. There's even a beer garden out back, where grad students with open books sit next to punk rockers with leather and chains. The pub grub is a cut above the norm.

Good looking staff. Not always the fastest service, but they tend to get the beers out there quickly enough. Good music on Thursday nights too. Try the Barbeque, Bacon, Chicken, and Cheese sandwich. Good pub grub.

  • Pros: inexpensive

Ive been to Raleigh's on a number of different occasions, and have finally had it. The staff is slow and flat out rude. Drinks are overpriced and weak. There are plenty of other good bars within walking distance, give them a try first.

  • Pros: easy to find the exit
  • Cons: , price

This place fills up on Thursday Nights with Cal students looking for a good time. I have to say that in my undergrad days, I spent many a night there.

The food is Pub Grub at its best, burgers, nachos, onion rings and fries. My fav is the avocado bacon and swiss burger. trust me, the food it good.

The real story about this place is its wide selection of micros, many of them represented on the walls on hand drawn chalk boards. Though they have intriduced many domestics to their menu there are still many "good beers" to choose from.

The pool tables and shuffle board and heated beer garden are also long time favorites.

A great spot.

  • Pros: Beer, Food, Games
  • Cons: It gets crowded

Raleigh's is a hangout for Berkeley students who are generally very bright and incredibly smart. Time spent here is fun as well as informative, since the conversations are refreshingly worth listening to.

  • Pros: good drinks, good food

Raleigh's has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and quite a good selection of beers. If you are adventureous, ask for a pitcher of Boont-Sail-Tail. It's a mix Boont Amber, Full Sail, and Red Tail and has a full body, strong aroma and tastes great. My favorite meals are the Old Blue Burger and the Three Cheese and Avocado Sandwich. It's hard to choose between the Onion rings and fries as they are both good.

  • Pros: Friendly service, Great atmosphere, Good beer selection
