Finally an Honest Auto Body Shop!

My car was damaged in a crash last year and I took it to Hanzel Auto Body. Henry, the owner, gave me an estimate on the spot and explained to me (so that I could actually understand) what would need to be done. He put in all OEM parts as I asked and the paint job matched perfectly. He dealt with all the insurance stuff and my car was cleaned and ready quickly. He also fixed my Mom's car after a piece of metal debris struck it and she recieved the same high quality service as I did! I have recommended this shop to everyone!!!!

I took my car into Hanzel Auto Body because I had read positive reviews on the internet and was having problems with my Honda civic's hood latch mount. I had recently had a horrible experience at Berkeley Honda and was feeling somewhat wary of mechanics. However, I had an EXCELLENT experience at Hanzel Auto Body and cannot recommend them highly enough. They were professional, courteous, and organized in booking my appointment. The owner Henry Hanzel answered the main number when I called to book my appointment, and was very patient and helpful in answering all my questions. When I brought the car in, I was helped immediately (no waiting!) although the garage seemed busy, and Henry himself looked over the hood latch right then and gave me a rough estimate, saying he would examine it thoroughly and call with a firm estimate that morning. Although the garage was busy with several other cars, Henry called within the hour and gave me a firm estimate (which was quite reasonably priced) and gave me a clear description of the exact problem. I OK'ed it and he called later that same day to say the car was done. Because the repair had been easier than initially expected and not taken as long, he charged me $150 LESS than the estimate! I was really impressed by this - he didn't have to do that. I had been quite satisfied with the estimate and would have been none to wiser that the repair had been simpler than expected. This impressed me as remarkably honest and professional. Hanzel Auto Body did an excellent job, and I would highly recommend them to everyone. They do quality work for fair prices and are honest and courteous. What more could you ask for? I've never written a review before but felt so strongly about how exceptional this place is that I wanted to write a review. I highly recommend them!

Professional Service on ALL cars, trucks and SUV's; Family owned in Oakland Since 1919!!!

Thirteen days after picking up my brand new 2005 MINI Cooper I was rear ended by another car. I was devastated but Henry and Mark at Hanzel Auto Body Works reassured me that the car would back together in no time. Henry gave me a free estimate on the spot (all estimates are free!!) and made all of the arrangements with the MINI dealership and my insurance company for factory replacement parts. The job was performed with no delay and the car looked as good as new (just like it did 13 days before!!) The Pepper White paint on the brand new factory replacement bumper was matched perfectly and fit with the same factory precision the car came with. It has been over a year since the work and the car still looks as good as new. While my car was being repaired a sea of other brands of cars were being repaired as well. Cars, trucks and SUVs from Ford, Chevrolet, Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Dodge, Ferrari, BMW, Jeep, Jaguar, Lexus, Acura, Infiniti (and many, many other brands!) have all been repaired back to their pre-damaged condition by their expert staff. Hanzels doesnt specialize in one type of car, they specialize in every type of car, new or old! As an owner of several Citroens, Henry has years of experience repairing these fine examples of French automotive engineering. From the restoration of a rare Citroen DS convertible to the bumper replacement of a new MINI, and everything in-between, Henry and company can tackle any car problem. They are open Monday Friday from 7am 5pm. If I ever need repairs or service again, I would gladly visit Henry at Hanzel Auto Body Works. As a family owned business since 1919, yes thats 87 years in business, Hanzel Auto Body Works will treat you and your car with the best care you deserve.
