Best Of The Bay
by larrypickle at Citysearch
Man I have to tell you, this is my favorite place to eat hands down. I am from the central valley and I think that I know mexican food pritty good. I was stuggling to find a really good mexican resteraunt in the bay area and could not find a place with anything better then burritos. A friend of mine had told me about this place. He discribed it like "it's like my grandma is cooking back there." So one day my wife and I went and checked it out.
I must tell you that my favorite is the Chile Colorado. My wife would argue and say that it is the Carnitas or the Sopes that she loves. But I have not had a bad meal there yet.
But like the other reviews you are not going to some fancy rest. This is a nice place with great food and prices. I try to go there at least once a week. Indeed one of my fav's.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: None
This is THE place!

Love this place. The food is FANTASTIC! The Sopes are my favorite, but everything I've tried has been excellent, Chile Verde, Chile Colorado, Carnitas, Steak Rancheros, Mulas, Sopes, the list goes on. Try their specialty dishes, they are the best, the standard fare such as enchiladas and tacos are good, but it's all about their specialty dishes. They make homemade corn and flour tortillas, the corn are to die for... Fresh and made to order, tender and flavorful. I would suggest this place for anyone wanting excellent authentic Mexican Food. DELISH! Parking sometimes can be difficult due to the Parkway Theater being so close by, typically only a couple times around the neighborhood to find a parking spot. It's well worth the effort. This place is tops!
- Pros: Great Food, Friendly Service
Don't judge a book by its cover

I'd driven by the place a number of times, and had pretty much decided that it was... "sketchy"... So what a shock it was to find the best mexican I've had in years inside!
Despite the grim exterior, inside lives a helpful fully bilingual staff serving up both authentic and 'americanized' specialities.
Try the mulas, the menudo, or a good ol' carne asada burrito. For your picky children, a hamburger or fried chicken. I find many of the mexican restaurants on International daunting - because they are so authentic that I can't find the standard fare. The glory of this place is having both - authentic originals AND standard fare.
I'd been missing sit-down mexican restaurants since my move to CA - but no more, I've found my new favorite place!
- Pros: sit-down or take-out, carne asada, margeritas
