Great Food...not the best service... We continue to go even though the service is not the best. A few of the dishes are excellent and worth the lack of friendly service. I think Luke's would do much better if the staff got a little nicer.
good food bad service. the waiter or owner always irritated seems to be dronk for his breath not good for business wont be back
service leaves much to be desired.
I've been here numerous times: lunches, dinners; just two of us and larger groups. The food is generally good, a bit pricey for what you get -- but offering a nice variety of dishes. The mousaka is well done, the pastas are usually good, the dolmades are quite nice. Twice I have tried the tirimisu, and both times been disappointed: the cake was dry -- not the rich and moist treat it should be.
The major problem is the service, which is slow and sporadic at best. The staff is not friendly (it's not as if I need people to glom all over me; simple pleasantness is sufficient). When we were there a month or so ago for a family dinner, we ended up joking about how aloof the waiter was.
My most recent visit was with a woman friend at lunch time, arriving around 12:45; the restaurant was about 1/2 full. The waiter (manager? owner?) seemed irritated; as if it was a nuisance to have to serve us. When we asked for the wine list he instead spouted off the names of 3 white wines and 3 reds, not mentioning the vintners or vintages. (Assuming that we wouldn't know the difference? That was certainly his attitude.) We were served by three different people, and had to ask twice (AFTER we'd ordered it) for coffee at the end of the meal. They were NOT busy. We are well-groomed, well-mannered, middle-aged women -- not rowdies that they might consider trouble makers.
This is the last time I will tolerate supercilious attitude from their staff. The attitude seems to be that they don't need the business. I won't be troubling them again with mine.
The facility is clean. Parking can be challenging at lunch time.
A touch of Greece in San Leandro.. I visited this restaurant for the first time last month, and was delighted to find a Greek restaurant in San Leandro. Not only do they offer good Greek food, the menu also features Italian dishes. Although I didn't try any of the Italian pasta dishes (I hope to the next time I go), I had the tiramisu for dessert and it was absolutely scrumptious.
Greek Food and Flair.
Coming in for the first time, reminds you of "my big fat greek... (you know the rest). It is very clean with a large fresco of that famous greek temple (I wont give it all away) The night that we went had live musicians, which was a hilight of the evening. We are talking truly greek musicians, not some acoustic monkey doing one level above elevator music. (no offense if you like that kind of stuff.)
The desserts are just great! Ask the waiter what they like... most likely it is something other than baklava and you will be happy you took their suggestion.
The price is not bad for what you get. I have paid more for a similar experience, but I have also paid less.
So in all.. great ambience, great food. If you enjoy trying new restraunts.. put this one on yer list to try.
