Hayward >Togo's Eatery
Good chain - mediocre location..
The people that work in this location are great! They care about the quality of service and that everything is prepared quickly and to whatever specifications you can throw their way. For a franchise that's about all one can ask. Yet, I'm asking for more... The building they are in is next to a check cashing joint with a parking lot that's difficult to turn into when Jackson is busy. The exterior looks weathered and the interior is very dated, not in a quaint retro way but in a Judge Reinhold - Fast Times - all that's missing is the stupid hat kind of way. My lady friend wanted me to add something about the place smelling but I never noticed anything myself. Togo's in general (Castro Valley, Emeryville, and Sunnyvale being the other locations I visit) seem to be nicer than Subways and less expensive than Quiznos.
Your mileage may vary.
A variety of fresh-baked bread and healthy, wholesome ingredients define this sandwich chain's made-to-order creations..
The first Togo's opened in 1968 near California's San Jose State University, serving simple, sizeable sandwiches. Today, the same freshly prepared subs are ordered at the counter where diners choose their bread and toppings. Cold options include the signature avocado and turkey with all-white breast meat, and the Italian--salami, capicolla, mortadella, provolone and cotto. Popular hot subs include the pastrami, piled high with mustard. Veggie sandwiches, soups and salads round out the menu.
