Great friendly service. This is a wonderful, friendly local restaurant with great service and super food. We're been going to Chef's for years and have never had a bad experience. It's a place where the owners stop by your table, get to know you, and greet you. Imagine going to a small town restaurant with wonderful food and great prices and you have Chef's. Also, unlike restaurants in Berkeley, there is plenty of free parking.

Great food! Great value!. Chefs is a local favorite. They serve very good basic

Chinese food at the take out counter and at the sit down

restaurant. The food at the take-out steam counter is

always fresh since there are lines of people continually

ordering food to go. A take-out lunch of an entree

with steamed rice is around $3.25. You can feed a family of 3 from $25 -$35 for a complete sit-down meal (appetizer, soup, 3 entrees and rice). Chefs is in a new location (the new Trader Joes will be next door in the late Spring)on the south side of the Plaza (facing Albany).

The dining area is small (under 50 customers)but it seems

roomy and uncramped; very warm and sunny. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. This is a non-upscale, non-snobby, non-fancy place where all sorts of folks hang out for a great meal at a great price.
