Great place to eat!!!!!!!. I first went to Barneys when I was a kid. We went there regularly. When I had my own family I took them there. Now that I have retired and moved to Lincoln,Ca. About 1 hr 45 min. away. I still drive to concord every so often to get my Barneys fix. Every thing is great and worth the drive!
Good God No!.
I ate there with a friend on Friday. We had the same dish. Instead of BBQ sauce, they brought us a bowl of gravy? I didn't bother to ask the genius behind that one. But to really top it off, both my friend and I have been crapping and pukin' all weekend. It's the only place we ate together, and we have the exact same symptoms. So recommend it? F. No. The only person I recommend visit the place is a health inspector.
Yeah, I am p'd off! I'm writing this 15 minutes after filling a safeway bag halfway!
VERY VERY VERY BAD SERVICE. WAITING FOR 45 MINUTES AND THE SERVER DID NOT EVER RESPOND TO US ABOUT OUR FOOD.. My family and I just went to Barney's Hickory Pit tonight 9/27/07 at 6:15pm. We were so excited and celebrating my new job and our daughter wants to try the barbecue but we have a very, very bad experienced. We were their and around 15 minutes two more couples came in and tooked their orders. About 20 to 25 minutes later they got served and we still waiting for our food. More people coming in and placing orders and over the phones they got their orders. The lady who is taking our order are not saying anything and keep passing by still not saying anything after 45 minutes she finally said something "YOUR FOOD WILL BE READY" with the attitude of like a threat. We are very disappointed with the service and we don't like the way we were approaced.
SO SO.
I've been going to Barney's since the 80's , and I have to say lately it has been going down hill. The last couple times I've gone to Barney's and asked for a cut fo ribs and have not gotten it , if they are not going to fill your order the way you asked they should tell you up front. In my eyes the have gone from good to maybe OK
That's my story and I'm sticking to it
barbque. I have eaten at Barney's since they opened in 1957. The food has always been great!! The ribs, chicken. pork.and ham all have just the right amount of smokey flavor. They have a brown sauce (more of a gravy than sauce) and now a red sauce that is more of a spicy sauce. The steaks are some of the best in this area and the price is right. They also have great salads as they make their own salad dressings. If you ask me where to eat in Concord I always say Barney's. And they have a great breakfast as well!! In my family we have 4 generations that are and have been eating at Barney's and still enjoying the Great Food!!
Delicious BBQ. This resaurant is a great place to get a good bite of BBQ! Quick seating, prompt and friendly service, great food, and to top that off.. this place is family owned! I enjoyed a delicious chicken and rib combination.. which was a juicy half chicken and five delectable ribs. I smothered the ribs in the original or traditional brown sauce.. and I had my chicken with the red sauce.. this was preceded by my tasty side salad with the Barney's blue cheese dressing.. which is unlike anything you have ever tasted! Delicious!! I'm goin' back tomorrow!!
Hidden Gem in Concord - Barney's Hickory Pit.
A fairly traditional bbq restaurant: beef, pork, ribs and chicken. A pork fan, I was informed by the very nice and helpful waitress that it is sliced (not pulled).
There is also the traditional sauce, which is essentially a dark brown gravy. However they also have a "new" red sauce, which is a very good tomato-based, slightly thick, slightly vinegary and spicy sauce. Much more traditional. You can get both free on the side, so I did. FYI the brown sauce is not traditional Southern, so if that was the only sauce I wouldn't have been nearly as happy.
I got my sliced pork on white bread. It was DELICIOUS!
Can't wait to go back. I saw many huge slabs of ribs going into the pit while I sat there. I look forward to trying some other items but I'm such a pork sandwich fan...
I Shouldn't have expected BBQ. Yes, the BBQ sauce was bland brown goop. No flavor and nothing to savor. I felt like flying on the next flight to Albuquerque, Dallas, or even Los Angeles to regain my appreciation of BBQ. Sorry, this establishment does not rate a true and loyal clientile. There are worthy BBQ restaurants in the area that can satisfy the hickory gourmand.
BBQ.
I have had BBQ around the nation and this place seems to have no connection to BBQ. No smoke flavor to the slightly tough meat, tasteless brown goo for sauce. If this is the real Concord BBQ joint, you can keep it.
Perfect dive atmosphere, ruined by absolutely bland, bad food.
downhome b.b.q..
a concord landmark since the 50's, great food, great portions and good prices. NO YUPPIES PLEASE!! it would ruin the atmosphere in this
country setting.
