What started as a single grocery store in Idaho in 1915 now has more than 1,775 locations. The retail giant encompasses some of the biggest chains throughout the country, including Vons, Randalls, Tom Thumb, Genuardi's and Carrs. Each store offers limitless name-brand products and produce that range from dairy, meats and baked goods to personal care items, pet supplies and cookware. Depending on the location, customers can also enjoy convenient in-store pharmacies, coffee shops and restaurants.

Great grocery store. This is the closest grocery store to my sister's house in Danville. Although I shop at Vons in LA all the time, this particular Safeway (the same chain, really) is a cut above. I suppose that's because it's right in the middle of the Blackhawk development. It's more akin to a Pavilions than a Vons. I have to say I actually enjoy shopping here. It's a fairly new store, so the aisles are larger than many Vons stores in LA...and the selection of produce is much larger.
