Tips for Sushi House

November 14, 2012

I love The Sushi House. This place. I don't know where the bad reviews coming in regards to the service so I'll just share mine. The food is always top quality. I have never had any complaint about the food. The service is what one expects in a restaurant that's perpetually slammed. The place is never empty, and I've been there 7-8 times now. The staff is friendly, they have always been helpful and always in motion. When I go there I don't expect to have someone there at every moment. They can't. There are literally 90 some odd other people there, if not more. I wait, and usually not that long. Try the place. My wife and I never finish the food, too much. We always take some home.

Amazing food, bad service. The food, to me, is really yummy. If you go with company & have a good time, you can excuse the rude service. As it's been said, things take forever, which I wouldn't mind much if the servers were nice & attend to your needs.

I called them to ask a question, I said "thank you" and they hung up right away. Understandable if they're busy and cranky, I get, but this kind of rude behavior is just a package deal with them...

I love their food though, so I won't stop going.

I have never had any problem. I have never had any problems here. You may have to wait, because everyone wants to eat there. The prices are good, the staff always treats us well and the food has always come pretty quick. As for ambience??, I came to eat and enjoy the company of my companions. Six visits, six wonderful meals.

Everything about this place is horrible. This place is totally a joke.

We had to wait a long time to get seated which is not as bad as service. Service was terrible. Servers were mean. NO SERViCE! We had to wait 15 minutes to get more tea and another 15 minutes to get the check.

The food weren't good either. everything is bad.

OH, Yeah, Cheap Rice too.

The atmosphere is about like a college dorm cafeteria.. This place has all the ambiance of the Chicago Stock Yards. The atmosphere is about like a college dorm cafeteria.

This place is really no longer as it used to be when the venue was smaller.

Since Sushi House has moved, it's gone way down hill. I had made reservations and still had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, waited another 15 minutes for a glass of warm water.

As the years have passed, the quality of the food and service have declined dramatically. Service is really bad and is extremely slow.

There is no quality control. Hard, cheap rice, over-ripened avocados and butchered, over-handled sashimi, and not particularly cheap, either.

We ordered a boat of sashimi and the squid wasn't even cut right, they were all still attached to one another, the uni looked gross, as if it was melting away.

The Scallop Fry was a bit bland, even after liberally applying the sweet sauce and the Donburi was way to spicy.

The Marine Boy Roll was confusing and the fish wasn't fresh at all. I guess that's why it was masked with all these mysterious sauces.

Too much rice on the rolls. They're using the rice to make there rolls look big.

The portion of the rolls are a little smaller now than other places.

The Safeway sushi is better than this place.

If long waits to be seated, poor service, rude employees, no ambiance and over priced food are your cup of tea, than The Sushi House is the place for you.

Stay away

Great sushi, VERY poor service. It's unfortunate that a sushi place that serves such fresh, yummy sushi offers such poor service! I love the sushi but the servers need to take a customer service 101 class to meet the needs of us, the customers! I dread goin there because of the poor service, however, enjoy the sushi very much.

Terrible customer service.. Sushi house has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Sure the food is okay and cheap, but it's still not worth the long waits and rude staff. I tried to make a phone reservation for 12 during their busiest hour and was told to call back later. When i did, the guy on the phone told me he couldn't except my reservation and was rude by saying " well, what's wrong with coming in, signing up, then waiting". it's a business lunch and people cannot wait for 20 minutes before eating - that'd leave them only a half an hour to eat, pay and leave. Also, you'll have to take small sips of water (if you are lucky enough to get some) - the waitresses will ignore you until you are practially choking on your food. I was a long time customer because the view is great and the food is cheap, but I'm not going back after the phone incident. Kamakura and Sakura on Santa Clara Avenue are WAY better in every way.

Horific Customer Service. I would have tiped 0% but there was a 15% tip automatically added to our bill. The sushi here was ok, but the not worth the price, and to make matters worse the service was horrible. Seriously this wasn't just a bad day I had, read the other reviews.

Overrated sushi but fun atmosphere. OK if you are young and asian and don't care about waiting for an hour for OK sushi, then this is the place for you.

With a big group of friends, it can be a lot of fun. And you can take a walk on the beach across the street afterwards (or while you wait).

But the sushi is just OK, and the service is a bit less than OK.

Go if you are in a fun mood and want a young, loud scene. Don't go for good sushi.
