beyond mediocre.
This place has a great waterfront location but the food, service, and decor were painfully bad. The chicken and fish were over cooked, the sauces were salty and tasted canned, the drinks were undrinkably sweet, and the $18 dinner salad was smaller than your typical "free" strarter salad at other restaurants. Not recommended.

Great Pasta!!.
I always order the same thing Salmon Picatta. It has grilled salmon with sauteed mushrooms, capers and fresh basil in a creamy lemon, butter, and white wine sauce tossed with penne. To die for!!! If you go on a weekend, make reservations if you want to sit by the window.

MY FAVORITE ON ALAMEDA.
I have been dining here for at least 10 years, first when I lived in NY and visited, and now that I am living here on Alameda. The food is wonderful, especially the seafood ravioli in a wonderful cream sauce. The salads are also outstanding, as are the pizzas. I am a vegetarian and always findsomething wonderful on the menu. The desserts are fantastic too! The owner is a great person, and many of the servers are relatives who make you feel extremely important. Every table has a view of the water, and the fireplace in winter make it cozy and romantic too. Great prices and ambience. Don't miss this one.

One of my favorites.
I'm not really sure what the other reviewers experienced when they say 'just average'. I love this place and I've been going for years. The wait staff is friendly, helpful and responsive to special requests. The food is outstanding! Try the sferas (meatballs) and calamari as appetizers and the seafood ravioli for your entree. YUMMY! The view of Jack London Square across the water pairs nicely with a glass (or two) of their reasonably priced wine. I've brought many friends from out of town to this restaurant and it never ever disappoints.

Canned Italian.
I love Italian food. Italians pride themselves on using the freshiest ingredients. There is nothing really innovative or fresh about the food. Everything tastes like it came from a can or from the freezer. The only fresh tasting item was the warm bread, which flows freely. For the amount that you pay for these dishes, they really shouldn't cut corners the way that they do.
If you like average food then this is the place for you. The views of the Estuary are nice and the wait staff are professional.

Our favorite.
This has been my wife and I's favorite for years. Nowhere in the bay area have we found a table on the water with drinks and a great variety of dinners for under $50.

This casual waterfront restaurant serves moderately priced Italian staples in a friendly environment overlooking the bay..
In Short
The biggest selling point at this two-story bayside restaurant is the setting--each table boasts a sensational view of Jack London Square and the Oakland-Alameda estuary. But that's no knock on the menu, which is veritable hit list of Italian favorites. Offerings include creamy fettuccine Alfredo, robustly flavored with garlic and Parmesan, or meaty veal piccata with tangy lemon sauce. Lobster ravioli in a zesty sun-dried tomato-pesto sauce is a house favorite.
