Delicious food, excellent service

I really love this little spot in Alameda. they have great tasting mediterranean food and very reasonably priced. You get a choice of soup or salad with your entree! Although the menu doesn't change very often all the entrees are good. Try the paella and definitely eat the homemade bread they serve before dinner.
- Pros: Delicious food, value
- Cons: Small restaurant, can get loud
Overrated

The ambience of the restaurant was very nice but unfortunately the food was not very good. It was truly disappointing considering the good reviews we've heard. My paella was extremely SALTY. I had to force myself to eat half of it. My husband's pasta dish tasted more life a dessert due to the over sweetness. The smoked salmon carpiccio was sliced too thick to enjoy.
We're not going to be coming back.
Great Mediterranean Food

We had a delicious meal there - everything from appetizer to dessert was excellent. The price is pretty reasonable and the service is outstanding. We found the entrees to be a a little on the salty side, but I suppose that comes with the territory with a menu that hints of Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, Lebanese influences. In a town that lacks in higher end dining options, Asena is a stand out.
Mediteranian Cuisine and Hospitality

Mustapha, Mo, & crew always make us feel so welcome. We always stagger out with full bellies two+ hours later. The menu changes seasonally-- you will be amazed by the variety of food coming out of the tiny kitchen. Try the homemade ravioli of the day, soup of the day, osso bucco, or fish of the day. The steak is always excellent as well. There is a leek fettucine with seafood that is to die for. There are several vegetarian entrees and appetizers. Chef makes homemade yogurt cheese, sauces, and his seasoning with fresh herbs is delicious and varied. Appetizers are not always a good value for the price, but are interesting. We have visited again and again because of the excellent food, changing menu, affordable wine list, and European restaurant style service. The sponged-wall ambience is a little dated, but the seating is very comfortable.
- Pros: Friendly Staff, Freshness, Mediteranian cuisine
- Cons: Noisy when crowded

Servers are very friendly; specials change frequently. Homemade soup is some of the best I've had. It does get a bit loud at times, and the ambience isn't exactly worth mentioning, but the food is excellent and always fresh-tasting. Don't fill up on the warn-baked bread.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Noise level
