The Best Mexican Restaurant in West. This is the Best Mexican food in the West And we know good food.My family and I have gone to no less then 500 different Mexican Restaurant all over the West from Texas to Washington and all the states in-between. Also on the East Coast, Gemany and Autrailia. But they don't really count as there use catsup for hot sauce!!

My father is the frst one to eat at The Acapuco. He came home raving about it. Soon we all were going crazy about how Good and fresh the meals were. We have been going there since 1964.My Dad had a sailboat docked at the Alameda Yacht Harbor so he and my Mom eat there at least 3 days aweek. He then told all his sailing mates. They all loved it a much as we did,so they then told their friends and family! So forth and so on, it became the place to meet. My favorite things are the chilie relanoses. My Moms was the tocos. My younest sister would eat the Flour tortillas with fresh butter melted all over them with piles of finely shreded lettus on the top dipped in salsa made fresh one batch at a time. Then we discoverd the Acapulco special #1.OH MY- OVER THE MOON GOOD.

Now, 50 years later my family has moved to Modesto many years ago Mom and are gone My sister too.But my husband and I our grown kids and now our grown Grand kids go there whenever we travel to the Bay Area

We have been known to go just because we get hungry for the great taste of it all. The service is wonderful too.

Yesterday we went to an antique show in San Matio, looking forward to going to get a great dinner of our favorite food---- They were CLOSED ---The childern of the owners closed the place !!! Did they sale it, Are they going to reopen after a remodel ?? Does any one out there know? Please post any infomation on this site !!

Please let me know as I feel it almost as if there has been a death in the family. Regard,Dodie

THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD AROUND. I have been eating here since I was 5, 42 years ago, Modesto was alive back then and always gave us big sticks of gum. I started my kids when they were still in carriers, and now they are grown and bring their friends. WE LOVE THIS PLACE, I am never happy with any other mexican restaurant. They treat you like family and it feels like home. Cheese enchaladas are fabulous, love the chips and salsa as well, but the hot hot sauce is my favorite. or don't forgert the tortillas and they always give you ample butter to slather all over them.

Mexican cuisine that isn't authenic south of the border fare, but excellent none the less.. Authentic Mexican food like you'll find south of the border it isn't. But I have been going there since 1954 and I love it. The portions and flavor has not changed in 50 years. But those who return do so for a very good reason.

Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Family owned and operated restaurant serves traditional Mexican food and offers a vegetarian burrito and chicken enchiladads.

Not good.. Worse than taco bell. They dont' even have carnitas. The freshest thing they have is the lettuce, which they do give you a lot of. It's cheap and popular w/ some crowds. i wish it had more flavor. Wine-ritas help make things taste better.

Slightly better than Taco Bell. The food is your very average Mexican fair. The service is fine and and the atmosphere is nice. There are definately better Mexican restaurants in the area, but if all of the good places are full then Alcapulco will do.

Excellent flavor. This restaurant has been in business for more than a half century...they're doing something right! The chips and salsa is to die for and the serving is unlimited, the main courses are excellent, the chef uses traditional flavors and the plate shows up to your table bubbling! Everytime I go, I have the cheese enchilada dinner and I am never dissatisfied with the taste. Prices are reasonable and I can't emphasize how good the food is! Especially the guacamole! If you have a healthy appetite, this is the place for you.

Lots. Huge, traditionally-styled Mexican dishes are served at this Alameda monument. Value here is absolutely unparalleled. Bean dip is very good. Not the best mexican food, though; but you get much for your money.

Cha, cha, cha!. Although the restaurant is rather small (especially the bar area) seating moves quickly due to the style of food served. Hot, and well prepared.
