Editorial Review for Osha Thai Noodle Cafe – by Citysearch Staff

The Scene
The hippest noodle parlor in town draws a diverse crowd of tattooed and wild-haired youths, happily slurping away in diner-esque, blue vinyl booths. A stylish Thai staff dishes up these economical bowlfuls at lightning speed till after midnight daily.

The Food

Bold, creative variations on Thai noodles take center stage, but standards are also exceptional: Spicy egg noodles are stir-fried with chunks of crispy, succulent roast duck, then perfectly finished with licorice-scented Thai basil and a hint of sweet soy. Ever-popular pad thai is rich and peanut-y, though slightly oily; and chicken tom yum's thin noodles can be overwhelmed by a complex broth. The teo chew pork wontons float in clear, greaseless stock. Fiery, lime-infused beef salad and Osha's Sea, a robust red curry brimming with moist salmon chunks, crab claws, shrimp and calamari are ideal examples of the signature Thai balance of hot, sour, salty and sweet.

I love Osha! They have a dish for everyone! Im a very picky eater, and my boyfriend and I have very different taste in food, so choosing a restaurant to eat at can be difficult. But we both can easily agree on Osha! He loves the crispy chicken with fried rice and I highy recomend any of their yummy salads, made with fresh papaya, mango, cilantro, you get the picture 8) ...all fresh raw foods for the health-nut Iin me. I love the ambiance in the union street location, its really worth a visit! Also the mango sticky rice desert is one of my favorites not to heavy desert and great to share. MUST TRY!

The actual dinner dish was excellent, but I was not expecting them to also have great dessert. The fried coconut ice cream is to die for! I had to go back there for another serving before my trip was over. It's so unique and delicious! The place can be a little crowded at night, so be prepared to possible sit at a table w/ other couples if the place is packed.

Pros: Great meals! Better dessert!

Cons: Over-crowding.
