used dvd player sound static. I bought a used dvd player from Handy on Aug 24, 2010. I used it without problems for about a week and a half. On Sep 3, when I turned on the machine with the same disk I had prviously viewed without problem several days before still in the player, the sound was obscured by static. I tried a different dvd with the same result. I turned off the player and tried again several hours later with the same result.

On Sep 7 I took the machine to Handy. The player sound functioned normally on the shop bench. Handy said he would not repair. He suggested that there was an error in my connecting the machine or in the dvd, despite my explaining that I had made no changes in connections, or even changed the dvd from the previous normal viewing. He also suggested that I had simply changed my mind about wanting the player. He said I should not buy used electronics! If he had made this recommendation before selling it to me instead of after, this all could have been avoided.

He offered to take back the machine with a 25% return charge, which I took.
