Local Steak House with Great Bar/Lounge for Biz Traveler. Read a few local reviews and thought Izzy's showed some promise, It did not disappoint. The lounge has a large bar with two good sized flat screens and is centered in the room surrounded by club type seating areas and a stage with a piano. On my Wednesday evening visit, the bar was clean and had an interesting cross section of patrons, ranging for twenty to sixty somethings. Piano was going with a light jazz flair. Nice single malt selection, pity no cigar smoking in CA! I requested two items not on the menu, a classic iceberg wedge which was served very crisp with a decent blue cheese dressing but could have used some red onion. I was also looking for a bone-in rib eye, also missing from the menu. I expressed that to the bartender who told me they always get a few requests for them and they DID have one! The meat quality was very good, nice flavor and cooked perfectly. Met some nice locals and I will return on my next biz trip.
Not worth the Drive. My family and I dined at Izzy's last week. The wine list was okay. The portion was nice-sized. My kids really enjoyed their steaks. The waiter was strange -- he acted like he was a standup comedian -- because he kept talking about himself and maybe nobody told him that he was not funny. I think his name was Jerald or something like that. Some of his comments to my wife and I were unprofessional and tacky. If you cannot find any other place to eat, I guess Izzy's would be an okay choice. But there is nothing really special about this place -- ambiance, food, service -- and, if I could go back in time, I probably would take my family somewhere else to eat. If you want to have a nice time -- yourself or with your family -- I would not recommend this place.
Very dissapointed with the food and the waiter was weird.
Ate at Izzy's one eve. with the wife. We were skeptical because so many restaurants have come and gone at this spot. Bottom line, the Prime Rib was below average, the salad was something I could have made in 2 minutes at home, and the waiter was strange. Talked to us and himself way to much.
I've been to better steakhouses in Pleasanton, Dublin and Walnut Creek. This place doesn't come close to being a quality place to eat. HOWEVER, the bar at Izzy's is pretty cool and has some good atmosphere. I've never been there on a Fri or Sat , but if people show up, it's probably a pretty cool hangout.
In San Ramon?? NO !! a good place to eat and hang out?? YES !!.
OK, I go out for dinner often. There are those times where you want to hang out in the lounge and wait for your friends, or hang out there after dinner with your friends. I couldn't believe that San Ramon offers a great spot for both, and with music too!
I've enjoyed every meal there, as have the friends I"ve turned on to the place. It's great to hear live music too, be surrounded by people of mixed ages and races, and eat lamb cooked to perfection~!
Editorial Review. Patrons sink their teeth into prime cuts of beef and seafood specialties at this well-known restaurant's East Bay location.
