Fine Italian food is upscale here, but not unaffordable..
In a family-friendly environment like the East Bay, the sort of Italian joint where you bring the little league team for pizza and root beer after a game is more common than the contemporary versions (think Gialiana, Pizzetta 211, Pizzeria Delfina and the like) found in SF. Giving those spots a run for their money, however, is this Glenview resto dedicated to modern Italian cuisine: from sharable bites like fritto misto and arancini to wood-fired thin crust pizzas covered in pancetta, arugula, fennel sausage and parmigiano reggiano. The space is grown up without being pretentious, with exposed brick walls, adequate bar seating and pleasant lighting--sunny and bright during the day and lit by hanging glass orbs at night. And while the kiddies will enjoy colorful Italian sodas, adults can appreciate the resto's long list of wines, both local and Italian.
