Citysearch Editorial Review.
In a family-friendly environment like the East Bay, the sort of Italian joint where you bring the little league team for pizza and root beer after a game is more common than the contemporary versions (think Gialina, flour+water, Pizzeria Delfina and the like) found in SF. Giving those spots a run for their money, however, is this Rockridge resto (and it's Glenview sister) dedicated to modern Italian cuisine: from sharable bites like fritto misto and arancini to wood-fired thin crust pizzas covered in pancetta, arugula, fennel sausage and parmigiano reggiano. The space is grown up without being pretentious, with gorgeous reclaimed wood tables, adequate bar seating and pleasant lighting--sunny and bright during the day, lit by hanging glass orbs and wooden chandeliers at night. And while the kiddies will enjoy colorful Italian sodas, adults can appreciate the resto's long list of wines, both local and Italian, and signature cocktails.
