ART & MUSIC COLLIDE - DOWNTOWN OAKLAND.
Just in time for Happy Hour-
The Layover has accomplished a bohemian sheik interior, circa 1970 Las Vegas glam. Featuring DJ line ups, reclaimed wood, tile, fabrics and bold splashes of color; this full bar sports velvet wall paper and sells all artwork and furnishings.
Super convenient - just blocks from the Fox and Paramount theaters and 19th street BART. Check out all the large variety of beers, liquor, specialty cocktails and free wi-fi.
Adjoining the bar is the art gallery space 'depARTure - full of local art.

Citysearch Editorial Review.
In a case of mistaken identity, this Uptown Oakland bar is neither near the airport nor decorated with any sort of '60s aviation theme (which could have been fun, a la The Orbit Room in SF). Instead, The Layover's pretty much your standard neighborhood bar--dark, fairly well-stocked, a mixed bag of DJ'd tunes and live bands--with a few twists: specialty drinks scrawled on a board above the bar utilize farm-fresh ingredients like cucumber and plum; there are copies of National Geographic strewn on the low tables for reading; a Bohemian lounge space of ragtag furniture and pillowed benches look more hookah lounge than nightlife spot. While pre-flight drinks can't be found here, pre-concert ones (the Fox is a mere three blocks away) most definitely can.
