WARNING!!!. I went there for 8 months and paid $70 each time to get my dreads locked up. The result was beyond horrifying; I ended up with two huge balled spots; one TOP and the other on the SIDE of my head.

I however take full responsibility for trusting the instructions of these careless and irresponsible ?hairstylist.? The first and foremost concern of a hair professional should be the health of the client?s scalp/hair. Nappy or not is not the place to go if you care about the health of your hair; of if you care about having hair at all. If anything, I was disappointed from the lack of professionalism received from the owner of the shop.

WARNING: if anyone instructs you to not wash your hair for a MONTH, I urge you to leave their salon (Nappy or not) and never look back. There are other methods of obtaining healthy dreadlocks without permanently damaging your scalp/hair.

Not that terrible. The stylist knew what she was doing and did my hair right.

My only complaint was the ridiculously long time I had to wait. Maybe you should space out your appointments a little bit more?

Our Humble apologies. I had no idea that the reviews for our salon were so terrible... All of the suggestions will be carefully reviewed and addressed... i humbly apologize for any inconvenience that any has been caused from our salon... We have been in business since 1995 and we are not backing down now just because our regular clients do not visit this site. I apologize to those few people that had terrible experiences but that does not speak for the multitude... please forgive us and Thank you because it changes the way i feel about improvements when i read the issue... Peace and blessings.........

Wow! That bad???. I called Nappy or Not salon earlier to cancel an appointment I had for today, but an emergency came up and I couldn't make it in. So I called the salon and talked to a woman named Stefanie( I assume thats how you spell it) who was supposed to do my hair. She sounded so sweet on the phone and asked me to call back later in the month to reschedule. I agreed. But after hearing all of the bad things people who were serviced by the salon are saying makes me think twice. I mean I could kind of see if it was one bad comment then I would ignore it, but majority of the reviews on this sight says something bad about the salon. I mean I don't know the the people that work ther epersonally, but with all these bad reviews, waht am I suppose to think? One reviewer mentioned in an above post that she almost got or got her eyebrow burned, I'm like OH NO, I know I'm not going there now.

Does a great sew in weave, but takes a really long time.. Stylist Songie does a great sew in weave when she takes her time. The only thing is that she does not honor appointments, and she some times will have you waiting a really long time and it just really bad.

Rhonda is terrible. I had a 9:00 appt w/ Rhonda. She wasnt there when I arrived, I called her she said she was 15 minutes away. I waited and waited and waited. While waiting I saw young guys walking in and out with vodka bottles. Lori's clients getting serviced. By 10:00 Lori saw I was irritated and said Rhonda is on her way. She finally arrived about 10:30, and had the nerve to grab the girl sitting next to me, who had arrived after me. By 11:00 she finally called me to the bowl and asked her daughter to wash my hair. It was terrible her daughter used Pantene shampoo, on my hair, now I have that at home. Where were the salon products that you cant by over the counter? My hair did not feel clean, she used ice cold water, and wet my shirt all up. I was sat under the dryer for another hour. The whole time calling other nearby shops to see if they could finish me up asap. Rhonda finally calls me to her chair, never apologized for being late, saying she would knock a few dollars off, NOTHING. All she did was gossip about other people in the shop, which I didnt want to hear, I was so irritated with her at this point. She didnt listen when I said I wanted curls, and had the nerve to pop her lips when she had to put my curls in. I was charged 85.00 for a wash, flat iron/curl and trim. Mind you I'm coming from Antioch, and she knew this. It was a terrible experience.

Good talent gone bad. I'm glad that nappy or not hasn't changed! (sacrasm) I was hoping to make an appointment to have my locks styled but knowing Rhoda, it might take 2 hours to finish, that's after she arrives late! This is very much a fact that she schedules 9am appt's but doesn't get to the shop until 11am. Who does that? Previously someone spoke about how she was quoted one price and was told another, once she was at the shop, yep, that's a fact! I was a victim of that as well. One thing that I admire about Lori, she gets her people in and out. She doesn't look the friendliest but she handles her business. I also read a review where someone said that the shop is overbooked and this is why they have some of their mishaps. Who's fault is that, that they are overbooked? PROFESSIONALS are suppose to be able to manage their schedules. IF NOT, they need to hire PROFESSIONALS that can take on the job. Ever worker there, majority women, have really bad attitudes. The men that walk in and out are catered too with big smiles and tight shirts. The women are looked at as if we aren't suppose to be there. They are too expensive especially when you've sat for approximately 6 hrs! The staff doesn't greet you when you come in. You have to walk around the wall, interrupt their side conversations to tell them that you're there. The person you make the appt with has random girls wash and dry your hair and you may sit under the hair dryer for hours upon hours. I would only recommend this place if you want to get your locks started(by Rhonda) or tightened (by Lori). I haven't seen anyone else do 'good' hairdos. I was a bit disappointed. Also, as for the good reviews that other have wrote about nappy or not, DON'T beleive it! The Nappy or Not Crew wrote, I can bet my life on it! When majority of the reviews are negative, believe it!
