Things Sholl" Aint Changed.... This is very interesting, I was just about to call for an appointment because I've been wearing weaves and braids for the last 2 years and I decided to look at some of the reviews since I've been out of the loop. Sounds like things haven't changed. I use to get my hair done at Nappy or Not just 2 years ago. I would come every other week and get treated as if I were no one. My biggest complaint was the shampoo girls. My hair never felt clean and there were several times that I had to have my stylists (Rhonda) wash my hair after it had supposidly been washed. Ever so often the prices would go up and down, ever so often I would have to wait 30-60 minutes for my stylists to arrive at the shop or even acknowledge that I was there. People didn't greet you when you came in (except for Lori :), don't ask who you here for, just bad customer service all the way around. I can go on and on about different things that they could improve. I really hope that they take these reviews to heart and have some kind of communication and customer service analysts come in and administer some training. They charge enough $ to do your hair, I know they can afford to go to or have a seminar about CUSTOMER SERVICE. BLACK, YOUNG,OLD, Skinny or FAT we still like to be treated right....

She almost burned my eyebrows off!. This salon is absolutely horrible!! I went after hearing their advertisements on the radio and I asked for asimple two color dye job (blonde on the top-red on the bottom) and when I walked out I looked like I could have been in the movie 'Powder'. My stylist decided that since I was lightening my hair we should lighten my eyebrows also and she proceeded to leave me under the dryer with peroxide on my hair and eyebrows and when I told her my eyebrows and scalp were burning she told me just to 'wait a few more minutes'. By When she finally washed the peroxide off my eyebrows had all but burned off and the skin around them was red and sore and clumps of my hair were coming out. I can't say enough horrible things about this salon except to say that after causing me PHYSICAL HARM she still wanted to be paid... I had to put neosporin on my eyebrows for three weeks.. This place is a joke..

Someone Elses Client. 5/17/2007

I know who ever reads this probably cares very little about customer satisfaction, based on the other unsatisfied cleints. I'd just like your staff to know that I was going to be bringing my 6 year old son in to your shop this weekend for his first hair cut. But something told me to check you out a bit first. I am very disappointed to read about your tardiness, poor customer service, and high prices!!! It's already very hard to support minority based businesses as it is. (For the record i'm a minority too)! Hopefully someone will take the time to review my comments and share them with your staff personnel. FYI- some people do check before doing business with a company!

Best Regards,

Someone else's potiential consumer

Bad Hair stylist Rhonda at Nappy or Not. I went to Rhonda Glenn at "Nappy or Not" in Oakland to get a short hair cut and it was HORRIBLE. I wore many short hair cuts before but the one she did was bad. She didn't style my hair close to the picture that was in the book it was a simple up-to-date short hair cut instead she gave me an ancient hair cut from the 90's and the cut was Terrible. I will Never go back to her shop again. Her price was too high the hair style and cut was not worth $100, she was 30 minutes late to the appointment, and the atmosphere of the shop was not good customer service.

Cool Natural Styles, but....... Nappy or Not have some cool natural styles that you won't see on anyone else. All there styles comes out different on everyone so they are not alike. My hair stylist is Rhonda and I have been going to her on and off for about 10 years and 5 shops. I am genarally in braids, but when I want a break I go to Nappy or Not for a fresh natural look. A little on the expensive side to be a regular but you will be satisfied with the outcome. When you go, be prepared to stay all day!

Oh hell no!!!!!!!!!!. I should have known better. I read the reviews on this site the night before but still decided to give them a chance. I got there and my stylist walks in 15 minutes late. I was there for a sewn-in weave. The owner quoted me 200 bucks over the phone. She got started at about 10:45am. Everything was going fine. We ended at about 1:45pm which was kind of late in my opinion but what do I know??? The style was alright to be honest but it wasn't the best I've had and certainly not for 200 bucks. It was rather long and she asked me if I wanted her to cut it and I said yes. She cut it and I was a little bit happier. When it was all said and done I asked her so I owe you 200 right?? And She said 225 because of the cut. The she said something about how she guesses she should have told me that first. I agree cause a roommate of mine cuts hair and I could have got him to do it(I'm not from around here but from where I'm from if you get a weave then the cut and style are included)So I give her the $200 and she directs me to a bank up the street. I tell her I didn't know the cut was going to cost extra. She tells me that the original price of the 'do is $250 and I was quoted wrong. To make a long story short I didn't have to pay the extra 25 bucks. I will not be going back again and I will not recommend this place. I could have gotten mico braids somewhere else for about $150.

A waste of time and money!. My stylist name was Sonji. The hair style was supposed to be lock extensions. I was charged $500 ($400 for labor) with a $200 deposit. My appointment was for 9am, but Sonji did not start working on my head until 11am. Half way through the hairstyle, I was asked to wait another two hours while she worked on other costumers! This was actually a good thing because it gave me a chance to check out my hairstyle. There was nothing professional about Sonji's work, nothing. The parts were not straight and the sections were not uniform (some sections were too big while other sections were too small). The locks were too big and 'clown like' in appearance (I requested small locks). I have a magazine that has pictures of lock extensions. In every picture, the locks are small, the parts are straight, and the sections are uniform; that is what gives the style its professional appearance. While Sonji did offer to make some corrections, I decided not to let her finish the hairstyle; I should not have to tell a stylist, who is charging $400 for her work, to make straight parts and uniform sections. I decided not to throw good money after bad and take the $200 deposit loss. The whole experience was a waste of time and money!

My experience. Rhonda was my hair dresser. Before I have had others in the salon. I belive in giving people a second chance.

I love getting my hair done and I think it would be better to find another shop because everytime I go to the shop to get the same style. Nothing new, I'm paying a diffrent price. The prices seem to be getting higher.

Maybe the rent is going up??

Stylist a no-show. First appointment - absolutely loved my color and new twists. Went back for my 2nd appointment, the stylist never showed up. Very frustrating. Plus I had to listen to some video that was popped into the television blaring with vulgar language. I can not go back.
