Get gourmet French grub to go at this East Bay spot..
Almost all take-out food is fatty and/or fried, and so it is here, but at least you'll be dragging classy, Frenchified junk food like deep fried balls of mashed potatoes, bacon-stuffed chicken and cheesy polenta cakes back to your lair instead of a No. 2 with extra pickles. Weight-conscious regulars (something of an oxymoron at Gregoire's) must summon serious willpower to resist the greasy-good potato dishes and rich, heavy Cal-French cuisine in favor of nominally lighter fare like olive-stuffed pork chops and spicy grilled shrimp. The place is designed for take-out, with only a couple of tables and counter stools, which is a shame--if you're wordly enough to opt for crispy potato puffs instead of super-sized fries with a side of Big Macs, you shouldn't be so unrefined as to do it on your couch while watching "Dancing With the Stars."
