Hair 911!!!!!!!!!!!

by Neenee2285 at Citysearch

I have been to Sole a few times before and have always been satisfied. The atmosphire is always relaxing and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I attempted to cut my own hair and it was a disaster. I thought for sure my hair would have to be cut extremely short in order to fix it. It was just horrible! I went to Sole and Tony did a wonderful job fixing it. He didn't even have to cut much off. I was very pleased.

not worth it

by Nic8 at Citysearch

I had a bad experience in this salon. I had blonde hair and i wanted to go back to my natural color. they did a double process which i do not believe was necessary. I was also not made aware that if they do a double process they charge you double. In addition a toner was applied to my hair because they put to much Gold base into the first process (the one they insisted was nessesary). So imagine my fustration when i go to pay for my color and they tell me I owe $140 ( $70 for the first process and $70 for the 2nd process). The director also said I was saving money and getting a deal because they were not going to charge me for the toner that would of been $30. The toner that they wouldn't of had to use if they would of got the formula right in the first place!!!!!!!!!!!!! One top of all that the $140 color isn't even what i wanted. Its way darker then my natural hair color. When i talk to Tony the director he pretty much said o well there is nothing i can do. I am a pretty reasonable and down to earth person. It takes and enormous amount of disappointment to be on my sh*t list. I even felt bad that i just said sh*t . But this salon is definately on that list. I do not recommond this salon to any one. there are enough good salons in the bay area with aveda product, if thats what you perfer, who won't treat you like you are dirt. One more thing if you are reading this Mr. Tony i am so upset how i was treated today your stlylist did not go over the prices with me, and it was very unproffessial how you handled this situation. I will never go to this salon again.

The Perfect Salon!

by thepleasurelady at Citysearch

You will leave feeling gorgeous, refreshed and rejuvenated! Tony has been my stylist for many, many years. I liked the old space on College, but this new space in Emeryville is perfection. So very relaxing. A full array of top knotch Aveda products are displayed in a spacious and lovely retail section.

Looking for a new salon? Look no further, this place is fabulous.

Tony an Guy are gracious and kind and I recommend their salon without reservation!

The Real Deal

by hairwhore at Citysearch

At the risk of creating a massive run on the salon and making it impossible to book an appointment with Tony without major advance planning, I'll take the risk and share.

Most things are meant to happen. So, of course, it wasn't coincidence that Tony answered the phone when I called to schedule a consultation. After a 10 minute phone conversation, we both agreed no further consultation necessary, book now. I'm a self-proclaimed hair junkie and, with the right cut, have (imho) fabulous hair. After losing my stylist of 25+ yrs, I've been surfing and salon hopping for the right person. Lots of strange folk and cuts out there.

Personality and ambience play as strong for me as a great stylist. Sole Salon and Tony have it all going on. Warm and inviting, professional yet fun, fabulous Aveda products (and NO hard sell - THANK YOU!) which left me smelling wonderful the balance of the day. Great scalp massage and even better shampoo (without frou frou assistants who genuflect and coo at the stylists).

In a word (or two), great cut, great place, worth the price (sure you can find lower prices, but you get what you pay for) and if you're reading this (Tony and Guy), you're stuck with me for 25+ years. THANKS!
