Berkeley >Food & Dining > Taste Wine Bar
Horrendous Service leaves Bad Taste. We were excited to try this new spot in Berkeley- seemed nice and we do enjoy small plates. Unfortunately, the food was only so-so and the place was very noisy. And to top it off the service was awful. At the end of the meal, we had a problem with our bill. We ended up bringing our issue to the owner. (We had a dining certificate which we were told was not valid. However, these do not expire according to California law.) The owner refused to honor the certificate. After some discussion, he became rude, as if it was our fault there was a problem, and was yelling at us. He said he bought the business back in January and as the new owner was not responsible for an agreement established by the prior owners. However, we bought the certificate online in February while he was the owner. Funny thing is, we told him that we definitely wouldn't be back there. He didn't seem to care. I guess he doesn't need the business. With so many other great restaurants in the Bay Area, I am disappointed that I wasted my time and money on this one.
