My husband and I went in on Sept 15, 2007 at 7pm on a Saturday night to find that the place was quite empty. We've been there before and haven't had the best experience in the past so we normally go to Mikado's which is not brought by a differant owner and is converted into a grill. So we tried to go to Midori's on the same block, a few stores down from Samuri Sushi Boat. Midori's restraunt was full so we decided to try Samuri Sushi Boat again because it was empty (again.. on a Saturday night). NEVER AGAIN!! I will be boycotting this place and I do not recommend anyone to go, even with thier prize winning gimmicks. It's not worth it. I'm still having a stomach ache the next day.
Great sushi, great atmosphere, great service - highly recommended!. I love Samurai Sushi Boat! I used to live in Oakland and I went there at least once every couple of weeks. There aren't that many places with actual sushi boats anymore so that is one great thing. The sushi is fresh and delicious, there is a good variety of sashimi, sushi, appetizers, etc. that come around on the boat so you don't need to order additional stuff. Miso soup is free with your meal and they also bring you hot towels before you eat. The staff are very friendly, maybe a little slow. You can also win prizes there on Fri. and Sat. night, if you get a sticker on the bottom of your sushi plate - and win free beer, saki, and ice cream. There is always cheesy soft rock playing but it is part of the atmosphere. It is definitely not your trendy sushi place, but it is reasonably priced and always a good time. They also have a great birthday song!
