What People Are Saying About T-Rex Barbeque

In Short – Wide-open spaces and tall windows set T-Rex apart from traditionally smoky barbecue joints, but smoke is on the menu. Salmon and beef brisket are some of the favorites smoked in-house. Slabs of ribs and brisket come with a choice of spicy or mild sauce and an array of Southern sides including curried cauliflower and organic grits. Choice is also extensive in the bar: Offerings range from beer, to cocktails, to beer cocktails.
Great food? Not so much any more....

If you like your staff to look like they are fresh off a reality show, this is your place -- especially the pretty boys. Just wish they took as much care with the food. The bbq chicken is to be avoided. It's BBQ in the sense that it resembles BBQ -- not the real Texas stuff. More like NY BBQ for the Upper East side folks. The sides are large and full of butter, so if that's your thing. My main problem with T-Rex is that they continue to diminish on quality. I hate when restaurants start to cut corners and the quality control suffers. T-Rex just isn't what it used to be for me.
- Pros: Great Burger
- Cons: Overpriced and quality suffering
Great food, great atmosphere

I'm not sure if T-Rex would please a die-hard barbeque enthusiast, but we certainly walked away happy. We ordered the beef brisket sandwich with fries and cornbread, and found everything to be delicious! For lunch, T-Rex may be a bit pricey, but for a casual dinner, it was perfect! So far, it's one of the better dining experiences I've had on the East Bay.
- Pros: Excellent Beef Brisket Sandwich and Cornbread
- Cons: A little pricey for lunch
Step Above Chain In BBQ Land

In their attempt to be different with their beer, set up, and ethics I think T-Rex may have fallen into the land of average. BUT don't let the dissuade you. I don't think they are bad and if you order the right things you are in for delicious goodness. Pulled Pork Sandwich is awesome, the cornbread looked (I missed it) mouth watering, and if you like to drink there are more choices than a liquor store.

- Pros: Good Pulled Pork, Great Bar, Open and Well Lit
- Cons: Serious misses on some dishes. Parking
