Tips for Love At First Bite

Love At First Bite is a bakery with discriminating taste. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The woman behind the counter gives horrible customer service and selectively chooses who she will wait on. This is a business, not a high school cheer try out. Don't waist your time and money like did. I will not make that mistake again. There are plenty of good cupcake places ou in the bay. Go to another place.

I've had better. Their website claims "Love At First Bite is committed to bringing Berkeley and the greater Bay Area quality baked goods, made the old-fashioned way?with care, from scratch and using the finest ingredients." but I don't think they live up to their claims. The cashier told me that the chocolate velvet cupcakes were baked fresh that day, but it was quite dry and tasted as if it was a day or two old. Of course when I asked if they were fresh I got a very rude response from the cashier and she treated me as if I had 3 heads.

I bought 3 different flavors and found that the cake to be very tasty albeit dry, but the frosting on the cakes were so sweet that I couldn't even eat it.

If the cakes weren't dry, I would have given them three stars instead of two.

Bottom line: At almost $3/cupcake, I would skip this place and go to Masse's around the corner instead.

BAD, STALE CUPCAKES!!. I bought 4 cupcakes of different flavors so my friends and I could each sample bites of each flavor (as dessert for dinner I was making). Clearly, not one of them had been baked fresh that day. They were different levels of stale, one was probably only a day old - texture not too bad, but the rest were bad, the worst one was truly inedibly stale (5 days old? I don't even know. I've never kept cake around long enough for it to get that stale). They were awful, and I was embarrassed to have served them as dessert. I wrote them an email about it, and never heard a word back. I will never go back.
