Corner cafe serves espresso-coffee and tea drinks, light fare and desserts--often to the soothing sounds of live music.. In Short
North Beach cafe expands its Italian-roasted ambiance to the East Bay. But this locale provides more menu offerings than a typical corner coffee shop. The expected java selections are requisite, but there are 23 teas, Semifreddi's pastries, panini sandwiches, soup, salads and quiche to satisfy your appetite. Breakfast begins between 7am-8am and is served all day. A 5.5 ounce serving of gelato is a perfect way to sweeten your mood.

Hits: Live music and small selection of beer and wine, served by the bottle or glass, make a nice late-night bar alternative.

Misses: The lack of Internet access is surprising, especially given the location on Berkeley's "Left Bank" and the proximity to the university.
