With woven mats blanketing the walls, sweet-hearted service and generous servings, diners are seemingly transported to a foreign relative's home--the Senegalese cousin to the Bissap Baobab family of restaurants in the Mission District. Sauces--ranging from flavorful peanut, tangy lemon, garlic and mustard, or spicy onion--titillate the taste buds and dress up rice, couscous, chicken and fish dishes. Budget-conscious prices leave room in the wallet for well-presented desserts.

The grilled talapia was sensational!. I found this restaurant here on citysearch and at the time it had only one review which was a postive one. I wanted to try something new in the Richmond area and this is located in Albany so it was perfect! The food was amazing, the fried plantains were perfect, my boyfriend got the special that night which was lamb in a peanut sauce which was very tasty. I had grilled the grilled talapia which was sensational! It was tender, yet crisp on the outside, it was fresh, and it had a nice spicy bite to it. For desert we had fried plains which were soaked in rum and served with vanilla ice cream, very yummy! Our server recommended the Chocolate Souffle which I can't wait to try next time. This is a sister restaurant to the Bissap Baobab in the city which I can't wait to try as well.

Wonderful food, generous, beautiful and happy servers, outdoor seating, great price!. Okay, so I'll admit that when we parked and walked up to the place I thought it wasn't going to be anything special. But as soon as we sat down (sunset view beside us), and the lovely server handed us the menus, I could tell this place was amazing. The owners were REALLY SWEET, the atmosphere was all about kindness, and the FOOD IS AMAZING!!! Everything on the menu was amazing, but I really liked the meat dish I got. The sauces are incredible. I also suggest getting the hibiscus juice. The vibe there was kind, gentle and boardering on blissful. The servers and all of the people there had huge smiles on their faces and were interacting. I just really liked the atmosphere. Yeah, a true find! Enjoy! Eve
