The best tempura I've had in the East Bay - the coating is light, fluffy, and crispy, not the least bit heavy or soggy or oily.

The sashimi is very fresh and the portions are very generous.

The staff is attentive, courteous, and efficient.

The people were pros and the food was great. The rolls are top quality. This may sound funny, but the rice was much better that any other sushi place..Very fresh

One of the best out there!. I kinda avoided the weekends before i visited this sushi place for the first time. I enjoyed their sushi and sake, they are heavenly! the ambiance was good because their staff were really friendly, they said hello in japanese and was smiling at us. Asian hospitality and Japanese food at its best!

Best Sushi in California!. If you love Sushi then you are going to love this place! The employees are very friendly and always welcome you with a smile. The prices are the best around and the food, well I wound be writing this review unless I liked the food so I give them an A plus! Great place to put on your to do list this weekend!

Nice Place for Sushi. Been coming to this restaurant and food is really great! There are times when it is really packed but if you are a regular and love the food, it is definitely worth the wait.

There are times when the service is bad but not all the time. The food is great and will definitely come back. Hope to see an improvement on their service.

High quality sushi. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls. The flavor, freshness, and presentation exceeded our expectations and place this meal in the same catagory with some of the best Sushi restaurants in the Bay Area. The service was quick and the servers were helpful with our order. You will not be disappointed with the food. We plan to become regular customers and look forward to trying out other dishes from their extensive menu.

if ur a foodie, then u gotta check this place out.. i found this this place on city search & dang! what a good find. my bf & i went there on friday for dinner. there was quite a long line when we got there and we we're seated about 30 mins later. the hostess asked us if we wanted a table or if we wanted the bar since it was open. we dont normally take the bar seats but my bf was starving so we just took it to avoid to wait any longer. and boy aren't we glad we took the bar seats. the sushi chefs were awesome! we got our food very fast. thanks sam! =) the pineapple swan & sake was great! =) did i mention how good the sushi rolls are yet? ooh-my-gosh! the up to heaven roll is just devine, so as the dancing oyster roll.... u guys gotta try it.! we also had the tokyo and 1 of the special of the day the hogan roll. we enjoyed the atmosphere at semo & the staff were very friendly & attentive. we definitely are coming back to try more of their good food. =)

A little piece of heaven.... Come here. Eat here. You'll love it. I promise. You'll walk in to every worker in the joint yelling "Welcome!" in Japanese with a smile to welcome you in. It's busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but it's well worth the wait. The fact that the servers are extremely friendly and very helpful is just a perk to the package; the best part about the Semo Sushi experience is definitly the food. There are pages upon pages of rolls; the presentation of the food is fantastic. I'm a chef myself, so I would know a good layout when I see one. They know me by name here! I love it! It's too bad Olive Garden already has the rights to that slogan of theirs, because it would fit the place perfectly: "When you're here, you're family." I'm so glad my friends made me come here. You won't be disappointed!
