Editorial Review for Mercer Street Salon – by Catherine Wargo
In Short
Black, white, and yellow all over, this sleek, split-level salon focuses strictly on cuts and color. A team of dynamic stylists helm a dozen chairs, ready to tackle your tresses. The color room is located discreetly out of the gaze of Fillmore Street passersby, but the styling stations are front and center so be prepared for some exposure. Early arrivals can hang out in the ultra-modern lounge, reading the latest magazines while sipping the house-brewed cappuccino.

The ExtrasThe salon's policy guarantees that you will be happy with your color when you walk out the door. The stylists will make any adjustments or overhauls at no extra charge.
Save MoneyIf you need just a touch-up on your highlights, go for the "shimmer," which colors just the hair that frames the face and the part line. Priced at around $60, it's a cheaper quick fix.

STAY AWAY!!! Do NOT depend on Mercer Street. Do NOT book with JEAN PAUL. What a nightmare. No customer service. No consideration. My friend was so excited to get her hair done by Jean Paul for her engagement pictures that day. She called ahead to say she had to be done by a certain time. Jean Paul made her wait 30 minutes because another customer was late. While he was putting product in the person's hair, he dismissed her without so much as an apology or sense of urgency. He did not even end up doing her hair and she had to do it herself. I felt so horrible for her. What kind of place does that when some one depends on them for such a special occasion?
Pros: NONE
Cons: JEAN PAUL

A friend recommended the place. As soon as I walked in I was impressed! It was set up beautifully and i was greatly so nicely! My appointment started immedietly with Gretchen who was so sweet and listen to what i wanted and gave me excellent advice! She took her time doing my hair and I didn't feel rushed. She offered me a latte or something to drink, and I asked for water and it came in a beautiful wine glass with a lemon!! Everything was perfect. She was not able to do the blowout or anything but the girl who did it was also great! I had never got so many compliments on my hair before. The prices are a little expensive but totally worth it!!! I will deff. be a returning customer.
Pros: everything!
Cons: parking and the location.
