I love this place!

by ErinShawNickVinci at Citysearch

I fell in love with Le Bistro! I was the best meal I have ever had in my life. I am a French American and I have been to France many times and this restaurant beats my Grandmother's cooking and any restaurant I have been to in Paris. Thank you this wonderful treasure. I have been telling everyone to go!

  • Pros: It is romantic and the food is phenomenal!

More than French Food, its the best fresh French food

by iamhazel at Citysearch

Le Bistro is by far one of the best restaurants in the area. From the minute you walk in you are warmly greeted by Kathleen and then the experience begins. We've had lunch and dinner there many times and have never been disappointed. I own a catering business and I've been in the food industry for many years. I believe I know good food and that's what Jean-Paul gives you. From begining to end the presentation is impressive and the freshness of the food is amazing. Even a simple salad for lunch is beautifully presented with a balance of textures and flavors that complement each other perfectly. The service is excellent and not intrusive. In fact we noticed that our water glasses had been refilled and we never saw anyone do it. Kathleen and Jean Paul make you feel right at home and part of their family. We now celebrate every wedding anniversary there and we recently invited 20 of our friends for my 50th birthday and treated them to an amazing dinner, with a different wine for each course personally selected by Jean Paul. And you have to have dessert, sinfully wonderful and decadent. But I never leave feeling so full I can't move which is a horrible feeling. Instead I leave very satisfied and relaxed because you're never rushed, you're allowed to enjoy your meal because it isn't about turning over tables. And if you enjoy High Tea, this is the place. All the breads, fillings, desserts (chocolate mousse, lavender brownies and so much more) are made from scratch. Everything is beautifully presented and they have excellent French Champagne. It just doesn't get any better. I urge you to call Le Bistro and book a reservation, you won't be disappointed. It's not what you think French food is, heavy sauces etc., it's fresh tasting and wonderful. Even the water is beautiful and great tasting. And ask for Jason, he's my favorite food server.

Fabulously FRESH French - not

by iambmw at Citysearch

Most will agree - I am a ?picky eater? (VERY) - so going out to eat with me can be a REAL experience for friends and family. I have been to Le Bistro now seven times, and each time I find more and more that I LOVE and which I can easily RAVE about.

Owners, Kathleen and Chef Jean-Paul, along with their staff make you feel welcome, are mindful of special needs (even my vegetarian daughter?s requirements), treat you with respect and provide taste treats for even the most difficult palate. Whether it is the soup of the day, the beet salad, attending high tea for the three-tiered plate of hand-fashioned sandwiches and dessert, or the one plate wonders (wondrous indeed!) - I have enjoyed and savored the variety of complex and delightful flavors served to me.

And oh, the WATER! Ask Kathleen about the "Pretty Water" - it is icing on the cake for a most enjoyable meal.

Plus recently, Le Bistro opened a full bar, and Jean-Paul served to me the BEST (bar none) LEMON DROP I have had in the WORLD ? no joke! (And, I am talking world travels, which have led me to search for the best!!)

Service has always been great ? and suggestions forthcoming when I have wrinkled my nose at ?trying something new.? I have experienced a depth of flavor and freshness not provided in many of the establishments in the 680/24 corridor.

I took my 26-year old nephew for lunch in February, he was so impressed by the Chocolate Mousse dessert he stated, ?You don?t have to purchase a birthday gift for me in July ? this mousse is TREAT enough!? Now, who knew I could enjoy a meal myself and take care of birthday present obligations at the same time?

I have never been disappointed in the atmosphere, food or service. I highly recommend you visit Le Bistro for a dining experience so rich in flavor, poignant and fulfilling that I cannot wait for the chance to go again!!

  • Pros: Fresh, flavorful food, Nice variety of dish selection, Quality preparation
  • Cons: Parking for handicapped

My wife and I decided to go out and try something new -- Le Bistro in Walnut Creek. Here was our experience: Setting: we were seated next to the door and when I say next to the door I mean too close to the door. In fact, this table was too close to everything, every time the waiter squeezed by me he bumped my back. We moved the table closer to the window and the bumping stopped. The service was poor for the price or at any price really, ie I had to request multiple times to get more water, bread, butter, and I was served the wrong glass of wine. But we were out to have a nice night, so I said nothing and it was fine. But, this was the topper of the evening. My wife ordered a scallop dish, which had good flavor, but of the three scallops served on the plate, one was very tough and inedible. I spoke to our waiter who then spoke to the owner Kathleen and we were told that they would not fix or do anything to fix the problem. I am sorry but even Taco Bell fixes a problem with a meal. I then spoke to Kathleen, the owner, and she again informed me that she and her husband had discussed it and that they were not willing to fix the problem?these were ?Diver?s Scallops? she said, and ?they just come up that way?. This was a $24 entree. As they are not willing or able to vouch for the quality of their food, I would not recommend this place and will never go back again. Too bad I was hoping to find another place to enjoy quality time with my wife, but this is not it. The only reason I am writing this review, is that I cannot believe that these owners treat first time customers like this. I guess they have enough business and do not need any new customers. If you are looking for some place new try someplace else.
