favorite sushi place in berkeley.
I make an effort to try new places, but Edoko is on the top of my Berkeley sushi list, and I'm there often. The ambiance isn't the greatest, but that just makes the place quieter, more intimate and more local. Service is excellent, dishes are well made and tasty, buffet has high quality sushi and the soup is delicious. Price is cheep too. When I leave Berkeley, this spot will be a fond memory and a place to visit when back to the area.

If you love sushi this is the place to go in the East Bay!.
If you love sushi this is the place to go in the East Bay! The have a great selection of quality sushi, and have an excellent assortment of other Oriental Foods, in buffet self-serve style (you can also order from an individual item sit-down menu). I have been going to this spot for many years now and have never been disappointed in a meal here.
I like moderately priced ethnic restaurants with great food. I've eaten Sushi in Japan. We've made Sushi at home since the '80s. We'd go to Berkeley Bowl and buy $25-35 of fish and stock up on other essentials and go to work for a few hours. Eating at EDOKO costs less and elminates all the work. The quality of the food and care in preparation is as good as our at home meals. I've eaten at Kirala a few times, but found it overrated and way too expensive. I've always preferrred Edoko and recommend it to you without reservation (and yes, you don't need a reservation and there is never a wait to get in).
In short, if you like Sushi you will love EDOKO.

All you can eat sushi !.
This is a great place to go for lunch (11.30 am to 2 pm), as proven by quite a following of regulars. The service is great: the waitresses stealthly take away your plates while you are doing the second, third or fourth round at the buffet. They offer great raw-fish sushi and a sizable selection of other japanese treats, like tempura, dumplings, always two types of soup, teryaki chicken or beef, etc. The price for lunch is 9.99 per person. For the food and service they provide, the place is underpriced!!!

GOOD FOOD AT A GREAT PRICE.
We have visited Edoko many times for its all you can eat buffet. We particularly enjoy the extremely fresh sushi and the delicious soups. The owners welcome locals as well as tourists. There's a good selection of cold and hot foods.
