Pretty good food and service, but not that trusty
by pakpakucd at Citysearch
The food is pretty good. The service is pretty good too. Our families love to go there for dim sum and dinner. Unfortunately we got disappointed after our recent visit... they didn't do what they state on their ads. On TV and magazine ads, they state that "free lobster for the next visit if you have spent $188 for dinner there from Monday thru Friday." On Thursday, we went there to celebrate granny's 96-year-old birthday, and we spent $400+. After we paid the bill, we didn't see any free lobster coupon for the next visit. Due to the curiousity, we asked if we were qualified for that coupon. The waiter told us that that promotion was long gone. So we trusted him and left. Afterall, just a lobster anyway. However, on the Chinese TV, newspaper, and magazine, that ad is still on everyday. We found that very disappointed. How can they lied to customers for such little thing? We decided not to go back there again even for dim sum.
- Pros: fresh food
- Cons: parking, and not quite trusty
Best Dim Sum in the East Bay
by trs8088 at Citysearch
We've tried the other recommended Dim Sum places (including Peony) - they don't stack up to East Ocean.
Seldom a long wait (plenty of table space) on the weekend. The food is absolutely wonderful and the wait staff is always nice. The greeters are always jovial and seat patrons very quickly.
- Pros: Food is awesom, Waitstaff is corteous, Wait is usually short
- Cons: Limited parking, decor could use work
