Bad night?. I have been to Fillipo's many times. I have always enjoyed it, both the food and service. Tonight, I had a very bad experience. I made a reservation last night. I called today to add more people and was told they didn't even have my reservation. The person was very rude saying he was the only person that took reservations. How does that work? Does he work 7 days a week, 12 hour days?

Our server was incredibly slow and unattentive. Ignored is the best way to describe it. We had to flag her down for EVERYTHING-bread, water, napkins, the check, dessert. Some items we had to ask for multiple times. When the check came, there was an 18% tip since we were in a group. I felt like we were totally cheated.

The food was also very bad. The chicken dishes were dry and needed extra sauce. Several of the dishes were incredibly salty (hence the need for water). The sausage did not taste like Italian sausage. It was more like Hickory Farms. The portions were also smaller than I remember. I guess that's good since the food was so bad.

Not sure if I'll go back and give them a second chance.

avoid althogether!. hmmm... let's see, where to start:

incredibly slow service (for no apparent reason!!), food edible but altogether bland (I had the gnoochi-- it was incredibly mushy and tasteless, the sauce tasted canned) (my husband had the penne gorgonzola-- his response was "how can gorgonzola have absolutely no flavor!!?")

all in all, a glorified fazoli's (no joke)

at least it was cheap! altho the $ we spent could have at least gone towards a restaurant that was worth it!! the old adage is true, it seems when it comes to bay area restaurants, you get what you pay for.

Editorial Review. Sit outside on the heated, pet-friendly patio and dine on panini sandwiches, pasta, salad, antipasti, Italian entrees and weekend brunch.

Fresh, affordable, quick, relaxing. This place used to be on Solano Avenue in the Albany/Berkeley border area, and it continues to serve up GREAT tasting pastas and pizzas at extremely fair prices.

Can't beat it for the variety, atmosphere, friendliness, and affordability.

CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! It's sure to become one of your east bay favorites.

Very nice little place. I have visited this place 3 times and had a enjoyable experience each time. The food is definately good for the price in this place.
