Editorial Review for Great Stuff – by Kim Cooper
The Scene
Ambitiously yet appropriately named, this eclectic general store offers fun, interesting finds for home, bath and playtime. The sprawling shop is loosely organized into mini-boutiques, with kitchen supplies on one wall, offbeat garden items on another, toys and novelties in the back. In the center is an island that doubles as the register and an old-fashioned candy counter, well-stocked with nostalgic favorites.
The Goods
A steady stream of neighborhood ladies may pop in to see what owner Laurel Norris has added to her stock for the day. It's wise to ask, because once something goes on the shelf, it could take several visits before you find it. The selection is vast and carefully chosen. Browse among fridge magnets, colorful kites and windsocks, mermaid-shaped cookie jars, potato guns, devilish rubber duckies, bejeweled picture frames, hanging Middle Eastern lamps, mood rings, massage oils, greeting cards, wrapping paper and more whimsical goods.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyEvery May 11, lucky shoppers take 25-percent off because it's the owner's birthday. There are also big sales right after all the usual holidays on leftover seasonal selections. Also, in recognition of the difficulties teachers face in California, a 10-percent discount is extended to all educators when they buy classroom supplies.
ParkingMornings are the best time for parking availability on the streets. If you can't find parking in the afternoon, try Golden Gate Park's 3-hour spots.
