Boasting a sleek decor of blond wood, raw steel and exposed pipes, this taqueria hums with conversation and an eclectic mix of piped-in salsa, rock and reggae. Patrons--mostly on-the-go professionals and parents with kids in tow--line up at an assembly-line style counter for hard and soft tacos or burritos (regular, fajita-style or without the tortilla) made with fillings like grilled chicken or steak, free-range pork or shredded beef.

Limited Menu, Solid Execution. The Walnut Creek area is laden with "fast and fresh" Mexican restaurants that, fortunately, have cast a doubt on the future of Taco Bell-type institutions. Chipotle is a solid entry; despite their very limited menu (tacos and burritos plus a few salads), food is made to order and tastes consistently fresh. I'd appreciate a wider variety of salsas (La Salsa's salsa bar is more to my liking), as well as a quesadilla menu item.
