The decor is down-to-earth and the service unceremonious, but for some loyal customers, eating at the Holy Land is a religious experience. Falafel and shewarma connoisseurs debate whether the sandwiches are as good or better than the ones in Israel. Regulars are easy to spot: They're the oes deftly navigating torn pita pockets and tempering bites of Middle Eastern spice with tall glasses of frothy mint lemonade.
