Taco Bell in Castro Valley, CA is alright =).
So I'm easily influenced w/ fast food commercials promoting the new this or that food item. My latest curiosity took me Taco Bell for their new Black Jack Taco.
LOCATION: My good ol' town Castro Valley, on Redwood Rd w/ Castro Valley Blvd as major cross street. Directly across the street from Round Tables, & walking distance to Castro Valley BART station by Hwy 580.
RESTAURANT: This place was remodeled actually sometime in 2008 (I believe), which did this location total justice. Unfortunate the remodel didn't include a drive thru =( Just a walk-in Taco Bell here. Clean, spacious, the new typical "Taco Bell" decor.
CUST SVC: Cashiers always close by & ready to take patrons order. Service is quick on orders. Staff tends to cleaniness of restaurant. Overall friendly staff & they've got a continuous Taco Bell patron here w/ me & BF-J ;-)
BLACK JACK TACO: So I went after work one day, I stopped on in my local Taco Bell for our dinner. So they've added something else to the "el cheapo" menu section @ Taco Bell...the $.89 Black Taco. Black bean taco shell...uuuhh yeah, BF-J & I agree it taste like a regular yellow corn taco shell. If I was blind folded, doubt I'd be able to tell u the difference. Black Taco was tasty tho & served its purpose to my $.89 curiosity. Would we get it again? Hmm..well $.89 Black Jack Taco is approx 210 calories vs their $.89 Crunchy Taco approx 170 calories...so until they can add some geniune flavor to it, prob go for Crunchy Taco.

Budget-minded families and travelers make a run for America's leading taco chain..
In Short
A pink and blue color scheme, white tile floors and hacienda-like arched windows combine for a subtle Southwestern motif at this fast-food chain. Founded in Southern California in 1962 by Glen Bell (who invented the pre-fab hard taco shell), this casual order-at-the-counter Mexican restaurant features classics like tacos, nachos, quesadillas and burritos. In recent years, menu offerings have expanded to include specialty items like gorditas, chalupas and cinnamon twists.
