37.972510 -122.042783My friends ask if we can go here when they visit. Im all about the food. Most of my favorite restaurants are not swanky places. What that means - people have to be coming there for the great food if they've managed to stay in business long, and this place has been here awhile. The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, the selection is good. The weekday lunch buffet is only like $10, and the weekend one is like $11 or $12. I dont know what that other guy was talking about $29...he was clearly misguided. The owners are very nice and they do aim to please, as somone else said. We frequently ask for a dish to be changed just a little bit, or if they can put out some garlic naan for the buffet if there is none, and they always accomodate. This is my favorite indian restaurant in Concord.
Excellent buffet.
This is a great mom-and-pop buffet. They change their selections frequently, and include main dishes and vegetables that are not often found on buffets. In particular, their vegetable dishes are outstanding, with multiple versions of eggplant and okra. Not the same old thing. My family eats at an Indian restaurant at least once a week, and has tried restaurants all over the bay area for the last 3 years. This is our favorite, even though we have to drive almost 40 minutes to get to it.
The decor is strip mall, and the building is old, but the food is good. They sometimes are completely booked by wedding parties, so if you drive very far, you might want to call.
No indian will like it....I recommond complete no no no...I will never recommond to anyone.....
Please don't waste any money there....guju's people please don't even think about this one...pass trust me...
Cleanliness: Horrible, if you don't trust me just walk in any bathroom before ordering anything and you know, check buffet counter, utensile handles etc.
Taste: Indian people don't even think about it, cold, no taste, stale.....
I found guy walking arround buffet and talking food from bar and eating right there, gross....I never wrote review but today when walked out after loosing 29$ on buffet I am writing review.....
I never wrote and review but today's experience encourage me. If you read my review and don't trust me please check place cleanliness and even though you are not conviceed then eat....
Indian Treasure!. Having read some of the reviews I felt compelled to write. I have been to Namaste quite frequently over the years and I always walk away satisfied knowing I just had a mouth watering meal. Yes, the decor is outdated but honestly besides the bright booths the rest of the restuarant is just as any other "well decorated" restaurant in my opinion. I have also gone there sometimes and have had families with children sit next to me during the busy buffet times and even if the kid eats or not they make a mess of the food on their plate. I don't know of many restuarants in this day and age who do not charge for young children on a sliding scale or have a kids menu, which I don't think Namaste has. Anyways, the reason any of us should go to a restuarant is to have good eats and this place excels, making all other points MOOT. The buffet has a lot to offer from a quick salad to my favoriote mainstay Chicken Maharaja. Off the menu, I love the mouth watering garlic nans and Karai Lamb. Also, if you are craving anything in particular, just tell the owner Sam or his wife and they aim to please. I always ask for homemade dishes for dinner sometimes, which, I crave from my homeland and they always make me a version that is just delicious. I urge you to go eat there, you will def feel like you found a treasure. I did!
Always Good!. As a Namaste regular, frequent traveler to India, and someone who has enjoyed Indian cooking for several decades, I can safely say that Namaste's ala carte menu offers many tasty appetizers and main dishes that stand up well against the competition. True, the setting and ambience are neither romantic nor particularly attractive (yes, the place could do with a makeover [and the restrooms are a throwback to the late 19th century])---but that's not the reason I eat there and, in my opinion, should not deter anyone from eating there either. I've also tried the buffet a couple of times---it's actually pretty good but not quite as good as the food cooked to order. There is some unevenness: for example, on some visits, the pakoras and samosas might have sat around for a bit and the accompanying condiments are not as fresh as they should be; at other times, everything is delicious. The restaurant is licensed (beer and wine) and offers both booths and tables. If you are unfamiliar with Indian cooking and need information on ingredients or advice on what to order---or would like things cooked a certain way (spicy, not spicy, etc.)---the owner is usually very accommodating. Prices are reasonable, the dining room is rarely crowded, and table service is usually provided by the owner in person, with occasional help from the busboys. There are other Indian restaurants in the area but, after trying them, I usually end up returning to Namaste.
CHARGE YOUR BABY TO EAT THERE.
The waiter came around the buffet table, stirring the food every time I got up. That was really unappetizing. The restaurant would clean with this ?white? table cloth and left it there.
I didn?t like the curry because it tastes like the rest of the curry. The ice cream was horrible. The table water tasted funny and the place was not clean. To top it all, they charged my daughter whose 24 months. It was disclosed anywhere in the menu and there were no mention of it. When I questioned the charge, I was told that only 12 months and under eat free. I was so disappointed with the service and food; I didn?t want to ruin my day. I do not recommend this to anyone.
We ordered from TakeOut Taxi and I had the Chicken Maharaja and it was phenominal! Best thing I have ever eaten!. We ordered take out from Namaste and got the food and had the best meal we have ever had! The Chicken Maharaja was cooked perfectly, spiced perfectly, the sauce was rich and creamy and flavorful, the rice was great! We will definitely be visiting this restaurant this week to check out this fantastic place first hand! It was so good I actually called the restaurant to tell them how yummy our food was. Thanks Namaste!!!
BEWARE!!!. You people are trippin. This has to have been the worst Indian restaurant I've ever experienced. We dined on a Friday night and they offered this weekend buffet. How tempting right? The first thing we noticed was how nasty the place felt, I don't know why we decided to stick around. The food was horrible, and over priced for the quality. We also ordered a nasty $3 mango lassi each and it almost made me gag. What topped it off, at the end of the meal, we could hear the waiter sneezing loudly and definitely not covering his mouth several times. BEWARE of this nasty restaurant. My advice, eat next door at the $9.95 nasty chinese buffet, although nasty as well, cheaper and more of a nastier selection.
BEST Indian Restaurant I've EVER visited!. Seriously, if you're in the bay area by Concord, this is a must stop for Indian Food! The buffet is amazing, so many choices in combinations and definitely something you can bring home and enjoy later on that night and share the spices with a friend who hasn't been. They'll be hooked too! I know people who didn't like Indian Food at first, and has a taste of this place, and LOVE IT NOW! Great service, good prices, comfortable atmosphere, friendly, welcoming, family oriented, good parking, and definitely UNBELIEVABLE FOOD! 173539 thumbs up! :)
Best Indian Food in the Bay Area!. I've eaten at many Indian restaurants, but this one is by far my favorite. I love their creamy Chicken Tikka Masala, savory tandoori dishes and soft, chewy nan. They have a wonderful lunch buffet with an extensive selection of entrees that changes daily, so I find a new dish I love every time I come in. They even offer South Indian dishes, including delicious dosas, a rarity in this area. This family run "mom and pop" restaurant has wonderful and warm service; the owner is always there and more than willing to provide newcomers with explanations and tips. I highly recommend this restaurant for both newcomers and connisseurs of Indian food!
