In Short – Originating in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1971, this international bookstore chain is known for its vast selection of books, movies and music, as well as a comfortable atmosphere. Cozy chairs, scattered tables and music listening stations invite customers to explore and stay awhile. Book and music selections are tailored to the community, giving the shop a local feel. The knowledgeable staff and Title Sleuth inventory computer stations aid inquisitive shoppers.

I usually don't go to this Borders.....But on that day I went there to waste time before my friend gets off work. Everything was great....Found a parking spot. Walked in....Grabbed a book to study....It was a lil noisy in the cafe.....Couldn't find an open spot anywhere else....So I grabbed my book and sat on the carpet. My friend called me....I answered.....We talked for a little bit.....Next thing I knew this Indian man came up to me and told me to get off the phone. Not a worker....NOTHING....he said he was getting ready to leave.....and just wanted me to get off the phone. He didn't want me to Disturb anyone even though no one else was close by.....If it really bothered him that much he should've said something before going off on me....I didn't even know the man was there. This man did not want to buy this book....He just wanted to read it for pleasure....Half hour....two hours....and just come back the following day.....Then we got into a scuffle........I guess he got mad.....Told the worker.....one came.....then another.....both did not tell me to get off the phone.....I was not being loud....I was not disturbing anyone.......BUT take this as a lesson....Anytime you hear or see anything......MAKE it a point to tell them to shut the ......up.....Man....I never get this kind of stuff in the Alameda Borders , I like my white neighbors a lot better. I asked him if this was racism or sexism.....I guess this Borders is not a family friendly place.....Kids are usually very loud and if this customer can't take it....might as well ban kids....There is NO sign in the bookstore telling anyone they cannot talk on the phone....The library is a prime example of a place where people go to study WITH a nice sign telling everyone to keep noise level down...I would not recommend this place to anyone....Go to the one in Alameda...It's a family friendlier...........
- Cons: rude.....Rude.....VERY RUDE customers.
