Great time. This is a great place to go to whether you want a few drinks at happy hour or hang out with some friends on a hot Friday night.
Kind of a good time....
Kingmans is not exactly my scene, but I've been here a few times, and always had a good time anyway.
They play mostly hip-hop, and the crowd is diverse and friendly. Tonight the dj was a chick surrounded by about 10 lesbians, and they were surrounded by the general Kingmans crowd of hip-hop lovers. Everyone seemed to be friendly and co-exist, which was cool. The crowd was really dressed up - something you don't see every day at a bar without a cover.
A few times, men got in front of me and blocked my way, saying things like "how you doing?" and not letting me pass. This was not a reflection of the majority though - most people were really cool and friendly in a non-creepy way.
The bartender was fast and attentive.
This was an overall well-staffed and well-populated bar. People were dancing with the music, and generally having fun.…
Lots of fun. Kingmans is terrific! 1st off it is a great lounge to hang out with friends.. red walls, soft lighting and couches describe the place... Dj's everynight.. usually start around 830 or 9... bartenders are a lot of fun and seem to know there cocktails well and always willing to work with the customer for that special drink... They specialize in martini's and have a great drink menu... also from 5 to 8 is happy hour 1$ off bottle beer and wine and $2 off well drinks...and from 8 to 9 is lucky hour and it is half off well so can get a cosmo for $4.00 every day of the week.. finally it is nice to hang out with friends listen to great music and not have to cross the bridge... lots of restaurants in the neighborhood for a quick bite or dinner as well...hint city parking 1 street behind!…
A slick, cosmopolitan drinking spot with DJs on a sleepy suburban street in the East Bay..
The Scene
This large space combines urban chic with turn-of-the-century elegance. A large curved bar with several stools is located to the left and a spacious lounge with comfortable
leather couches makes up the rear. Edwardian chandeliers bathe the room in a hazy red light, making it a cozy, sexy venture. Call-liquor drinks are typically $5 and up.
The Draw
On a daily basis, DJs spin funk and soul, promoting a lively energy. This is the hippest spot on the block (which may not being saying a lot) and the clientele dresses up--cocktail dresses, pressed shirts, slacks. The smattering of folks sporting jeans and T-shirts bring a welcomed sense of comfort.…
Best Bar Lounge in Oakland. We went to the Lucky Lounge a few weeks ago for the first time for my birthday party on a Friday and had a great time. The bartenders were a lot of fun and made the best cocktails. The crowd was very diverse with a lot of early twenties to thirties professionals who were more about having fun than being seen. And the DJ spun a smooth groove. It's like being in the city without the drive. Since then, I've been back a few times during the week when it's mellower and it's a great place during the early evening to bring some friends and hang out. Thanks Lucky Lounge--you're now on my permanent list of places to go.…
