Basic East Bay lodgings in a great location.. The Scene
While the name of this hotel evokes the romance of the region's rich history, the property is in fact quite basic. Stylistically, it looks like a 1960s apartment building. Location-wise it's great, situated near the waterfront and Jack London Square. Budget travelers will find this a nice option. Nearby ferry access from Oakland to Pier 39 in San Francisco takes just 20 minutes.

The Details
The guest rooms here are standard, decorated with floral prints and equipped with cable TV, air-conditioning and Internet access. Continental breakfast is complimentary. More than 3,000 square-feet of meeting and banquet space cater to weddings and company parties. The pool is lackluster and hemmed in by a fence--seating is outside the fence, so this isn't really the place for sunbathing.
