Tips for Spoontonic Lounge

December 12, 2012

I just met Jeff, the owner of the place. He was very nice. He came in for a massage @ Metamorphosis and told me to come down sometime and check the place out. If his employee's are as nice is he is, i'm sure, i'll love the place. Thanks again Jeff,

Amy

What not to wear. Don't wear black, unless you are lent free. Also, make sure your nails are freshly painted or clean of polish... All your flaws will show up under the black light.

unknown lounge. I was there last Saturday night around 10pm and there was less than 10 people in there. They didn't seem to have a dress code. There was lots of seating and some arcade games. This place was hard to find since there are NO signs, you just go to the back of the indian restauarant and go under and you see a blue and red light by the door and thats it! I would come here again if I had a group of people.

Hipster Creek at its best and only!. Tricky to find and therefore less busy than many Creek bars downtown. Love the bouncers - attitude to the max! The art is always changing, the bartenders as always nice and attractive. Wear your opera tux or your Chuck's and t-shirt, all are a good fit for Spoontonic. If you are hungry beforehand, visit the Indian rest. above!

Spoon's a great neighborhood spot. I've been going to Spoontonic for maybe 4 years now. It has good vibes, great drinks and a nice jukebox for playin' your fave tunes.

It takes awhile for the place to get crowded, but once it does, WOW! Nice-looking people come crawling out of the woodwork, or should I say, leather booths!

If you want to have a cocktail or two and not really stress about getting picked up on, this is your place. Very diverse, and has that "Cheers" feeling with an exotic, eclectic twist...

I recommend the Otter Pop...

first trip on a Tuesday. the real deal.. cool owner, cool 'tenders, cool bouncers, cool crowd; Jeff, Nick and Lucky the real deal: not for the retarded (although you're still welcome). NY/SF Bar in WC. no kidding. check it out if you're cool enough; if not, check out Masse's. "Lemmings" not allowed. (Rating would be a 10 w/beernuts.) Enjoy.

A suburban hipster haven seemingly plucked from the SF bar scene.. In Short
Colorfully appointed and elegantly modern, this place boasts a large bar staffed by classy mixologists and a spacious lounge accented by space-age light fixtures and large, comfortable leather booths. A black light renders teeth eerily phosphorescent, while a patio area by the entrance accommodates smokers. The discreet location (tucked behind a Chinese restaurant by a freeway overpass), lures a jet-setting bridge-and-tunnel crowd that doesn't want to travel to the city to sip quality cocktails.

StoopidTonic. Wow - friends told me this place was a refreshing change from the Abercrombie Twenty Something Bar Scene in the WC.... So my girlfriend & I went to check it out before dinner on a Fri nite..... 9:30. Late dinner. Anyway, walk in & immediately smell the cheese. 2 male forty somethings drinkn their Kahlua & Creams at the bar & a late 30 sumthin female playing what looks to be video poker, yet at quick glance revealed she was removing the draws off of a computerized Paris Hilton. Sounds sweet. But, the topper ---- The very nice Asian Bartender asked how our nights were going & then asked me to leave because I didn't have a collar on. Glad we didn't spend our $40 there. Must've been a collar-less nite. Wow the WC is where it's at - 4 get Sunset. Underground bars are all the buzz in the WC. What a pompous waste this place is.............. Yes. You counted correctly, there were 3 people in the bar on a Friday nite at 9:30 pm.

Great places, with great faces!. I was introduced to this bar by a veteran of Spoons ( <3 Caitlin) , and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere! The bartender was great, the people were chill, and the photo booth is a great addition and way to increase fun times. I think we got in that booth quite a few times that night. The OtterPOP shot, something of a house favorite, tastes exactly as it sounds. All the giggles and chats throughout the bar, give you that found the "right place" kind of feeling. A sense of accomplishment to those who can find the bar at ease! But once you have, you can finally relax cause you wont be leaving anytime soon! :) ~Ashley

Great Bar. People-The one thing I admire about urban bars (SF & Oakland) is that diversity is everywhere. Of course there are bars where one will find just one group, one stereotype and that's okay, because that is what they market to. Spoontonic doesn't market to specific stereotypes, which is one of the main reasons why it is the ONLY bar, I will go to in Walnut Creek. I like a diverse crowd. Thursday Nights, happy hour and good people. Of-course, it does get really busy later in the night. I like the fact that I can meet new people from different age groups.

Ambiance-Did you know that Blue is a calming color? There is a "retro" feel to Spoontonic, w/a white bar, chrome & white bar stools, & lights which hang from the ceiling & don't knock you in the head or block line of sight. There are high bar tables & low more intimate tables by the red wall which is lit with sophisticated fixtures. More cozy seating waits on the second level. But the one really nice thing about the seating is that I don't ever feel crowded. You know when you have to adjust your seat so that you feel the edge of the table pressing against your chest or that you're locked in for the night (gee, I wish I had ordered more drinks or used the bathroom earlier). Cramped doesn't exist. YAY! Art work from community artists is displayed on the walls, changing nearly every month. Kudos! Culture in Walnut Creek WOW! Who knew?

Drinks-Experienced Bartenders-I love you! I'm a moody drinker. Depends on the weather. However, they were able to re-create one of my drinks with no problem and I'm pretty finicky! But for the foo foo girly in you or your date, they have those too. High end whisky/bourbon drinkers, you won't be disappointed.

Music-Great Juke Box-IPOD Monday. I had a date take me out that night. We listened to our music for a 1/2 hour. And every once and a while, the bar will throw a party (you have to buy drinks still-:o)), but sometimes DJ's spin.
