Worst meal of my life. Although I'm not a vegetarian, I love a great veggie meal. My experience at Cha-Ya, however, was quite simply the most disappointing food experience of my life. The vegetables were overcooked, limp, and flavorless. The noodle dish was bland and watery. The potstickers were burnt and, quite simply, should never have been served. I'm shocked this place has received good reviews from other diners.…
It's JUST Great!. It's the best Japanese Vegetarian restaurant out there as far as I know. It's a must-eat whenever my friends/family and I go to Bayarea. The line is usually long (one hour or longer); you might want to get there around 5pm or 9pm to avoid the crowd, especially on weekends.…
My Favorite Restaurant!. Cha Ya is my all-time favorite restaurant. The food is Japanese and all vegan. I often take meat-eating friends to Cha Ya and they enjoy everything they order. The restaurant only seats about 25 people at a time, so I recommend getting there early (there is always a line) or plan waiting into the trip. Reservations aren't available. The food is always worth the wait and the price is excellent for Japanese food. Also, Cha Ya is now open every day for both lunch and dinner.…
User review by laertes. Very relaxed setting, quick, cheap, and most important wonderful food. Cha Ya is very small and therefore is not good for parties of five or more. It is easy to find, close to BART, and worth way more than what is paid.…
Light and lovely. If you enjoy light servings and think of the dishes, bowls, cups and tea pots as a significant part of an enjoyable eating experience, you will love this little shop. Their soups are wonderful.
